Chapter 695: So, Who Is This Lucky Girl?
After finishing their meals, Alex and Lavinia walked out of the restaurant, unaware that their friends had treated them as entertainment to pair with lunch.
The two continued their date, but as they traveled into some of the more popular parts of the city, Alex saw Prince Edward with the Matchmaker.
It seemed that he was waiting for the Prince to arrive at the Kingdom of Faelarun in order to report the result of his matchmaking.
"Can we take a detour for a while?" Alex asked. "I need to talk to His Highness."
Lavinia glanced in the direction where her boyfriend was pointing and saw Prince Edward.
She knew Alex had recently become close friends with the prince. Though, she had no idea how they became close. The Catkin only hoped that Alex wasn’t blackmailing a member of the royal family, for that would cause a lot of problems in the future.
"Hey, guys." Alex greeted the two. "Do we have a match?"
"Oh, Alex. It’s you," Prince Edward smiled faintly. "Matchmaker just told me that the forty-to-fifty year old ladies that he tried to match with me weren’t available. However, he did manage to secure me a date just a while ago."
Lavinia blinked once, then twice. For a brief moment, she thought she had misheard the Prince.
How could he possibly go on a date with a forty-to-fifty year old lady? If the Royal Family were to hear of this, it would be the scandal of the century!
"So, who is the lucky girl?" Alex asked.
"A thousand-year-old lady," Matchmaker smiled evilly. "In the past, she had been very dense. Only after turning a thousand years old did she realize the importance of being proactive when it comes to relationships."
Alex nodded. "Not bad. You scored a jackpot, Your Highness."
Prince Edward smiled faintly. "We will meet tonight. I just hope things will go well."
Alex knew that Prince Edward had a secret.
The main reason he liked older women was because his ideal partner was actually an elf.
This was a secret that only those who had played Prince Edward’s route understood, and Alex happened to be one of those players.
When Matchmaker said that the elf lady was a thousand years old, only one person came to Alex’s mind.
’It must be her,’ Alex thought.
She was one of the Main Heroines in Prince Edward’s route, and the two of them had the best happy endings in the game.
"Aren’t you going to ask who she is?" Prince Edward arched an eyebrow. "After all, you also played a part in this matchmaking event."
"I’ll ask when the two of you become official," Alex replied. "It’s still too early, right?"
Prince Edward nodded in agreement. They still hadn’t met, so it was really too early to tell whether he would get along with his blind date or not.
After bidding the two goodbye, Alex and Lavinia continued their date.
However, the Catkin was now very curious about the identity of the person whom the Prince would be meeting tonight.
"Alex, if Xenia heard that you hooked her brother up with a thousand year old elf, she would definitely give you an earful," Lavinia said with a troubled look on her face.
"She won’t know unless you or Chuck spill the beans," Alex replied. "You’re going to keep it a secret, right?"
"Of course, I will," Lavinia replied. "But are you sure Chuck can keep it a secret?"
"Good question." Alex blinked. "Well, I’m sure it will be fine... maybe."
The two of them continued their stroll through the city without the Dim Sum God this time around.
Earlier, Dim Dim told Alex that it planned to wander around the city on its own after they finished eating lunch.
Since the Elves were a peaceful race, the young man thought that it was fine to let the little bun go to the places it wanted to visit.
Dim Dim also told Alex that it would come to meet him tomorrow after breakfast. The little bun didn’t really want to disturb the date of the two lovers, so it decided to just wander around the city on its own.
Somewhere in the city...
"Does it taste good, Dim Dim?"
"Dim Dim~"
The little bun was currently eating a candy cane handed to it by the Goddess Lily.
If Alex had seen her, he would immediately recognize the little girl wearing a red-riding hood costume.
After all, she was the same little girl who smacked Alex with a baseball bat, tied him up, and put him inside a cannon that fired him toward Arcana.
"It seems that Alex has become accustomed to this world," Cupid commented as he too ate a candy cane that was given to him by Lily. "We did something good."
"Well, as long as he is happy, then all that effort is worth it." Lily smirked before lightly poking Dim Dim’s puffy cheeks. "I’d feel bad if he is not living his life to the fullest after being used like a cannonball. Do you want more candy, Dim Dim?"
"Dim Dim~"
"Here you go."
Cupid landed beside his friends while observing Alex from a distance. Before coming here, he secretly met up with the God of Games, Eriol, and asked why he chose Alex to be sent to Arcana.
The God of Games only said "it’s complicated," which prompted him to stop prying.
Cupid knew that if Eriol wanted to tell him something, he would have told him about it straight.
As Gods, they had the power to influence what would happen to a world to a certain extent. However, they were not allowed to directly interfere, especially since Arcana was the world Dim Dim created using almost all of its divinity.
It would take the little bun a few years to recover its full power. So, until then, it would learn everything about how the world worked through its own eyes.
By accompanying Alex in his journey, Dim Dim would also gain experience that would help him grow.
However, Cupid understood that life wasn’t always happiness and rainbows.
People needed to endure hardships, as well as sad moments in their life.
It was the way of nature.
So far, everything was smooth sailing. Yet, the Wheel of Fortune would continue to turn.
Cupid only hoped that when Dim Dim truly faced something that would change its life forever, his close friend would be able to overcome this hardship... or fall into corruption, which was something all the Gods had to overcome by themselves.
