Chapter 696: Wish Of The Heart
Chapter 696: Wish Of The Heart
Alex and Lavinia had a very wonderful time together, having visited the many famous attractions of Everdawn City.
The young man truly cherished this moment.
Among his lovers, Lavinia had been with him the longest, but they hadn’t bonded that often.
He and the young lady used to be unable to see each other eye to eye. But everything had changed. Now, she would only look at him with a tender gaze filled with affection.
Comparing the past Lavinia with the present one made Alex think that he was truly a very greedy person.
He went to the academy to meet his four queens. That had always been his goal aside from interacting with the Heroes and Heroines who would help save the world of Arcana from the dangers it would face in the future.
Lavinia had not been part of that story. Yet, she had become part of Alex’s life.
"Is there something on my face?" Lavinia asked in a teasing tone. "Why are you looking at me like you want to kiss me?"
Of course, she said that last part on a whim. Surprisingly, the answer Alex gave her was a kiss on the cheek and a hug filled with warmth.
"I’m just happy you became my girlfriend, Lavinia," Alex said. "I’m so lucky to have you."
"At least you know how lucky you are," Lavinia replied as she hugged him back.
They were currently at a lake right outside of the city, which was also a favorite dating spot by couples.
"Yes, I am very lucky." Alex agreed. "I might have already used up all my luck already."
Two of his queens, Astrea and Lapiz, were still not by his side. However, Alex no longer minded even if he couldn’t win them over.
If they fell for him, then so be it.
If not, then it was not meant to be.
For now, he poured all of his attention on his Catkin lover, who was now melting in his arms as he patted her head and played with her tail.
"A-Alex, hold back a bit on the tail nghh..." Lavinia couldn’t help but hug the young man a little tighter because her tail was one of her most sensitive parts.
Knowing this, Alex gently caressed and rubbed it with his fingers, making Lavinia feel ticklish.
A part of her wanted to pull her tail away from his hold, but the other half didn’t want to break this intimate moment.
In the end, she could only helplessly endure it until her legs turned to jelly.
"I’m sorry," Alex said because he knew he went too far. "You were just too cute, so I couldn’t hold myself back."
Supporting the young lady in his arms, Alex picked her up and carried her like a princess.
He then walked toward one of the benches by the lakeside and sat there, cuddling Lavinia, who lay defenseless in his arms.
"You meanie." Lavinia pouted.
"I’m sorry." Alex smiled faintly. "I love cats, you know?"
Suddenly, Alex heard a voice inside his head, which made him shudder.
"Only cats?"
Alex clearly heard Lulu’s voice inside his head, which meant that Latifa’s Alter was somewhere nearby.
Alex tried to look around, but he failed to see the familiar faces that he expected to see.
’Was that just my imagination?’ Alex thought.
"It’s not your imagination. So... you only love cats?" Lulu asked once more through telepathy.
’I-I love foxes too.’
"Good. You saved yourself from getting *beep* and *beep* in your sleep."
’...’
"What? Are you perhaps hoping for that to happen?"
’Yes... I mean I won’t mind it, you know?’
"Pervert."
Lavinia noticed that Alex seemed to have fallen in a daze. So, she lightly poked his cheek, making the young man smile helplessly.
"What’s wrong?" Lavinia asked.
"I think Lulu saw us," Alex whispered. "She’s somewhere around here."
Lavinia blinked once, then twice, before burying her face into Alex’s chest.
If what her boyfriend said was true, then Lulu had seen something very embarrassing.
"Uuu... tell her she’s not supposed to spy on us like this." Lavinia’s face turned beet-red, which made her look very endearing in the young man’s eyes.
’Lulu, can’t you see that Lavinia is getting embarrassed?’ Alex asked. ’Don’t tease us anymore.’
"Fine," Lulu replied. "But in return, you must take me out on a date too!"
’Okay.’
"Deal! Now, off I go!"
Alex didn’t know if Lulu had truly left. But since they had an agreement, he believed that she would do as she promised.
Half an hour later, Lavinia finally gained the strength to walk once more.
Alex had one last destination in mind, and that was the field of flowers called "The Everblossom Meadows."
It was one of the most famous places in the Kingdom of Faelarun because, throughout the year, countless flowers bloomed there without fail, painting the land with breathtaking colors.
The viewing spot Alex wanted to visit was a hidden spot with a great view of the sunset and the City of Everdawn at night.
He had discovered this place back when he was still playing ELO, trying to look for hidden treasures outside of the city.
While he didn’t find any rare weapons, equipment, or artifacts, he found something else that blew his mind.
And now, he was sharing this secret with Lavinia, who now looked at this wonderful scene with eyes filled with happiness.
"This place... I will never forget this place," Lavinia muttered as she stood beside Alex.
The two overlooked the flower field, as well as the City of Faelarun. They watched the sun set and saw the lights of the city light up one by one.
Then it happened.
The flowers started to shine faintly, as if greeting the darkness with their own light.
Lavinia thought that the scenery she had seen couldn’t get any better. But after seeing this one-of-a-kind transformation of the flower field during the night, she almost teared up. It was just so beautiful.
"Thank you for bringing me here, Alex," Lavinia said after she had finally recovered. "This is the best date ever."
"I’m glad you liked it," Alex replied. "I’m also happy to be with you here today."
The young man then picked up a flower near them, raising it up so that Lavinia could see.
"Is that a dandelion?" Lavinia asked. "But it’s glowing."
"Right." Alex nodded. "This is called the Everblossom Flower. It is also the main reason why this place is called the Everblossom Meadows. Did you know? The Elves have a belief that if you make a wish and blow on this flower, your wish will reach ’The Star.’"
"The Star? Are you talking about the Deity, The Star?" Lavinia asked.
"Yes," Alex replied. "I’m talking about that Deity."
The Deities of Arcana was represented by the Major Arcana of the Tarot Cards.
And one of them was "The Star."
It was a deity who specialized in granting wishes. However, it didn’t grant all wishes. It only granted the wishes of those it believed to be worthy of such a gift.
"Because once you blow on this, it will scatter like countless stars," Alex explained. "So, how about we make a wish?"
Lavinia nodded. "Should I say it out loud? Can I have more than one wish?"
"You don’t have to say it out loud," Alex replied. "And yes, you can make as many wishes as you want. After all, these stars we will blow are so numerous, that even if you make many wishes, there will be more than enough to carry them to The Star."
Lavinia nodded in response as she made several wishes, hoping that all of them would come true.
Alex also made a wish inside his heart. A wish that he wished to manifest if possible.
"I’m done," Lavinia declared.
"Good." Alex nodded. "Then, we blow on this flower together at the count of three. Are you ready?"
"Yes." Lavinia smiled.
"One... two... three!"
Alex and Lavinia blew on the flower at the same time, making the countless stars scatter and fly to the sky.
They truly looked like stars as they twinkled in the air, allowing the wind to carry them to places the two lovers would never know.
Then, as if waiting for that moment...
A gust of wind blew across the flower field, sending countless Everblossom Flowers into the air.
Countless stars appeared before them, creating a surreal moment that made Lavinia wish she could imprint it into her memory forever.
And under the lights of those countless twinkling stars, she placed her hands on Alex’s shoulders, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his lips.
Alex accepted her kiss with gratitude and kissed her back.
Neither noticed the presence of someone else who knew this hidden spot, which they also visited whenever they returned to the Kingdom of Faelarun.
Lapiz, who was hiding behind a tree, watched as Lavinia and Alex kissed each other.
They were very much in love, and she couldn’t help but wonder what it would feel like... if she were the one in the young man’s arms, kissing him under the starry sky.
