Chapter 84: Taboo
On a lawn in Elbaf, Lockes, lying on a mobile hospital bed with his body wrapped in bandages and only half of his face visible, was leisurely sunbathing.
When was the last time he could bask in the sun so carefree? He couldn't even remember.
These kinds of times are pretty good, aren't they? No Celestial Dragons, no killing, and, well, no that wretched Yellow either—
"Hey! Rocks, sunbathing, isn't the weather really nice today?"
Sitting in his wheelchair, Oro, who was being pushed out by Loki to bask in the sun, greeted Rocks warmly.
Unfortunately, Rocks ignored him, even turning away the only half of his face that was visible.
Pushing the wheelchair, Loki looked curiously at Rocks lying on the hospital bed. This old man didn't seem to be doing so well.
I got into a fight with my cousin, but he seemed to be fine, just needing to rest for a few days. This guy, on the other hand, was wrapped up in bandages from head to toe like a dumpling and could only lie in bed all day. The difference in skill was obvious!
Auro didn't seem to mind that Lox was ignoring him and continued chatting to himself: "Oh dear, Lox, how come you don't have anyone to take care of you?"
"Did your crew rush back to Beehive Island and really leave not a single one behind?"
"That won't do. Even if your crew is all roughnecks, you still have to leave one person behind."
Lockes couldn't take it anymore. He whirled around, a loud crack echoing in his neck, but he didn't care. He just glared angrily at Oro: "Don't you know why there aren't any female crew members in my fleet? They've all gone to your bed!"
Lox let out a loud, mocking laugh, then continued his tirade: "You say I'm no good? I rob people, but you're even worse! Stealing women everywhere!"
Upon hearing this, Loki looked at his uncle with admiration, but Oro himself was completely bewildered.
What do you mean he's stealing women everywhere? Dude, how many women are there in the Rocks Pirates?
Kidnapping Lingling? Nonsense! Lingling grew up with him; Oro came first!
Gloria O'Shah, the modern-day Amazonian lily queen?
Oro had to admit that when he led the United Kingdom's trade fleet to the Amazon Lily, he did indeed flirt with them a bit while negotiating business and helping them resolve some troubles.
But honestly, what can he possibly accomplish in a month or two?
At least for now, his relationship with Ou Sha is completely innocent! The sun and moon can bear witness!
Now that Amazon Lily is thriving with its trade with the United States thanks to the natural resources of the island and the surrounding waters, and is living a good life, it looks down on the Rocks Pirates. Who can you blame for that?
Who else in the Rocks Pirates is a woman? Buckingham Stussy? She has absolutely no connection to Oro.
He had made sure Newgate had known about it before; Newgate had never met Stussy, and neither had Oro himself. This woman had absolutely no connection with them now!
After some thought, Auro felt no guilt. He patted Loki behind him and said righteously, "Don't believe what this weird old man says. He's a sore loser. He's lost his temper and is just throwing dirty water on your uncle. Pure slander."
"Orikum Oro! Let me go—!"
"Hey, stop! Harald's youngest son is still here. Don't corrupt the child."
"Look at you, you've lost all your selves from being a maritime tyrant. I remained calm even when you splashed dirty water on me, so why are you so upset?"
Lox excitedly rolled around on the hospital bed, trying to get up, but could only thrash around like a salted fish. He could only pant heavily and glare at Oro: "What exactly do you want, kid? You're looking for trouble with me and want to fight me, just so you can send someone to attack Beehive Island?"
"Now that things have come to this, and they're not killing me, have they had too much of a good life? Are they mentally disturbed and want to create an enemy for themselves?"
Oro leaned back in his wheelchair, comfortably stretched his neck, and then looked at Lockes with a forced smile, saying, "First, you're the one who challenged me to a fight."
"Secondly, there is no evidence whatsoever. How can you say that my people attacked Beehive Island?"
"The strong don't need to reason or present evidence with the weak, but unfortunately, you are not the strong one right now, Rocks."
Lox scoffed without any attempt to hide it, but Oro remained unconcerned and continued, "Third, didn't I tell you what I wanted from the beginning?"
"Tell me, where is Davy Jones, a descendant of the Davy family?"
No sooner had Oro finished speaking than Rocks burst into laughter: "Hahahaha! So the Golden Emperor really is a child who believes in legends!"
"Hahaha! I wonder how the people of the Kingdom of Gaya would feel if they knew that their president was actually a mentally challenged brat! Hahahaha!"
"Over the years, as far as I know, you have returned to God Valley twice."
Oro's slow, deliberate words brought Rox's laughter to an abrupt halt.
"You are very cautious. My friend followed you twice, but neither time he was able to follow you to the end."
"But, actually, it's pretty much the same."
"West Sea, right?"
Rocks' gaze had hardened to the point of being like that of a lion ready to devour its prey, but Auro met his gaze without flinching: "What a coincidence, isn't it, Rocks, that the United Kingdom has the most diligent and meticulously managed trade network in the Western Sea?"
"If you really want to overthrow the World Government, you should pursue the power of yourself and your subordinates, even if it means using any means necessary, it is better than begging for help from hellish demons."
Lox's tone was as somber as his face.
Oro patted Loki's hand, signaling him to go back first. Although Loki's snake eyes were full of curiosity and he kept looking back as he walked, he eventually obediently went back.
"If sheer power were truly useful to Im, she would have been pinned to the ground by Joey Boy and Davy Jones 800 years ago, instead of sitting safely on her throne now."
Whether it was Oro's calm statement or his direct address of the man's name, it made Lockes' face twitch: "Orikum Oro! Listen to me! I don't care how much you know, there are some things you absolutely cannot touch!"
"Even if we ultimately cannot defeat the World Government, even if we cannot defeat Im, we must not touch him!"
Auro calmly looked at the increasingly frantic Lox: "Why?"
"Because Davy Jones and Joey Boy really are already dead!"
"What still exists now is merely a shell possessed by evil spirits!"
"If those two things are released in order to defeat the World Government, then this world is truly doomed!"
"David Jones is gone forever! If you want to find Joey Boy, go find his island! Go find his fruit!"
"I don't know where that island is! Nobody in the entire David family knows where it is! Because we're not interested in it!"
"Go find it yourself! Don't drag my people into this!"
