Chapter 40 The Abyss?
Chapter 40 The Abyss?
Yamamoto Genryusai Shigekuni's tall figure stepped into this blood-soaked courtyard.
His gaze, sharp as a torch, swept across the chaotic scene: the collapsed artificial hill, the splattered dark red blood, and the unconscious guards lying haphazardly. Finally, it settled on the mutilated corpse of Ryudoji Takehiko.
Once a renowned figure, Ryudoji Takehiko was now divided into three parts. Yamamoto mainly focused on his upper body, especially the severed areas at the neck and waist—
The two cut surfaces that Yoriichi Tsugikuni made were incredibly smooth!
The cut was so smooth it was unsettling, and besides the extreme sharpness of the surface, the residual spiritual pressure also carried a scorching heat, burning with a sacred radiance like the sun.
He couldn't help but recall the scene of Yoriichi Tsugikuni wielding his sword, a sword so fast and sharp that almost nothing could withstand it.
It was upright and dignified, like the sun radiating its intense heat, continuously burning the spiritual particles at the wound site, preventing any form of regeneration or decay.
Ryudoji Takehiko was in a terrifying state at the time, yet he was easily severed by that single strike; the power of that strike...
It seems to have an irresistible, destructive power over the soul!
Yamamoto's expression grew even more serious.
He stepped forward, his shoes crushing the congealed blood clots, and squatted down beside Ryudoji Takehiko's head to examine it carefully.
His brows furrowed deeply.
Because he saw Ryudoji Takehiko's head, which looked like it had been scratched by something, and the face was blurry. Although he could still vaguely make out that it was Ryudoji Takehiko's face, it looked as if part of the skin had been peeled off.
Is this also related to Jikokuen Ichigan?
Not like ah.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni's sword strike was clean and crisp; it shouldn't have caused such damage.
"Someone come here." Yamamoto frowned and stood up, his voice as cold and stern as iron:
"Seal the body of Ryudoji Takehiko and keep it under strict guard. Detain and interrogate the rest of the Ryudoji clan members according to the law."
His gaze swept across the courtyard again, lingering for a moment on the bloodstain that once belonged to Ryudoji Takehiko's head.
"It seems someone is missing." His adjutant, Chojiro Tadashi, approached at that moment and whispered after walking up to Yamamoto:
"It seems that Ryudoji Takehiko's grandson, Ryudoji Genryu, has disappeared."
"Ryudoji Genryu?"
"Yes, although he is still a child, he is also a member of the Ryudoji family."
Upon hearing this, Yamamoto immediately said, "Go find him! We absolutely cannot let him leave!"
They don't even intend to let children go.
At this point, Yamamoto was no longer the hesitant old man who held the great cause of the Soul Society in mind, but a cold-blooded killer.
He turned around to leave, but then he saw the monk again.
He had quietly appeared beside the remains of the slain vampire, his arms crossed over his chest as was his habit.
His signature large eyes narrowed slightly, and the usual relaxed smile on his face disappeared, replaced by a look of almost confused contemplation.
"A monk?" Yamamoto paused, a hint of surprise in his voice. "When did you arrive?"
"Well... such a monster appeared in the Soul Society, so of course I had to come and take a look. But..." When the monk turned around to look at Yamamoto, he returned to his big-eyed, cute appearance, but his tone did indeed contain a hint of doubt and confusion that he had never heard before.
"I did see it, but I'm even more confused now."
"Judging from your expression, you don't know about vampires either, do you?" Yamamoto walked up to him and asked in a deep voice.
The monk slowly shook his head, his movements unusually heavy: "Theoretically speaking, the names of all beings in Soul Society were originally given by me."
"But even I didn't know that there were such dark creatures as vampires, which is both confusing and unsettling."
"Can you find that Muzan Kibutsuji?" Yamamoto asked after thinking for a moment.
The monk continued to shake his head, saying, "I am not the Spirit King, and I do not possess omniscience or omnipotence."
Upon hearing this, Yamamoto said with a slightly wistful expression, "The appearance of such an evil creature at this time always gives me a sense of foreboding."
"The truly unsettling things are yet to come." The monk suddenly looked directly at Yamamoto, his eyes appearing like bottomless ancient pools in the moonlight. "I've discovered the entrance to a strange space, one that possesses properties similar to hell. The reason I came to the Soul Society this time is to take you there to explore it."
"Um... an entrance to a strange dimension?" Yamamoto was taken aback. "Besides Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the Human World, are there other dimensions?"
"Of course there is." The monk raised his voice slightly and said, "Humans go to the Soul Society after they die, while Quincy go to a different place than the Soul Society after they die, except that it is not under the jurisdiction of the Three Realms."
The Three Realms were created by dividing the world of life and death using the power of the Spirit King, based on the original chaotic world.
But that doesn't mean there are only these three worlds. Within the Broken Realm lies a place called Valley, and beyond the Three Realms lies Hell.
While searching for the Spirit King, the monk inadvertently discovered a new alternate dimension, the location of which he himself did not know.
However, judging from the aura emanating from that place, it is somewhat similar in nature to hell.
He suspected that the disappearance of Lord Lingwang had caused instability in the Three Realms.
Although the space within the Three Realms doesn't seem to be in any problems at the moment, the absence of the Spirit King to suppress the Gates of Hell means that the great pit of Hell may have been connected to the Three Realms again.
That strange space might be hell.
The Soul Society does have the responsibility of overseeing Hell, but let alone now that we are in a chaotic world, even under normal circumstances, they can only oversee a part of the environment in Hell.
After the Spirit King disappeared, did he go to hell?
This is possible, because he has searched the entire Soul Society, but still cannot find the Soul King.
As he prepared to go to the mortal world, he discovered an entrance to the abyss inside a cave.
"Is this the place?"
Yamamoto followed the monk to Rukongai.
At the northern end of the third district of West Rukongai, deep within Mount Koibu, lies a cave.
Unlike most of the desolate and dilapidated areas of Rukongai, Mount Koibushi retains a considerable degree of natural beauty due to its proximity to the Seireitei.
The mountain wasn't particularly steep, but the forest was quite dense. Now, shrouded in the darkness of the Soul Society, and coupled with the monk's earlier words, the continuous dark shadows cast here had a sinister feeling, as if they led to hell.
The monk and Yamamoto walked silently through the forest until they reached the deepest part of the mountain range.
