Chapter 109
Chapter 109
Lin Feng glanced at the business card, then looked at him.
"Thank you, Coach Zhang," he said. "I'll think about it."
Zhang Weiguo nodded, then took out a small notebook from his pocket, tore off a piece of paper, wrote a few words, and handed it over.
"This is my pager number," he said. "Call me whenever you want."
Lin Feng took it, folded it, and put it in his pocket.
"Thanks."
Zhang Weiguo patted him on the shoulder, turned around and left.
After taking a few steps, he turned back.
"By the way, who taught you that shooting form?"
Lin Feng thought for a moment.
"A friend."
Zhang Weiguo nodded, asked no more questions, and left.
Cheng Yuxin stood to the side without saying a word. She only spoke after everyone had left.
"A sports school? Are you going?"
Lin Feng took the business card out again, glanced at it, and put it back in his pocket.
"We'll see."
The two continued walking towards the school gate.
Exit the teachers' college gate and turn left. There's a street lined with small restaurants on both sides. They offer everything from hot pot and noodles to stir-fries and dumplings. It's almost lunchtime, and each restaurant has someone at the door greeting customers.
"What do you want to eat?" Lin Feng asked.
Cheng Yuxin looked around and pointed to a dumpling restaurant.
"That one, I guess."
The two went inside.
The shop was small, with six tables. The white tiles on the floor were a bit dirty, and the menu, handwritten in red paper with black lettering, was pasted on the wall. The proprietress, a plump middle-aged woman, was wearing a white apron and making dumplings. She greeted them with a smile when she saw them come in.
"Two of you? Please have a seat. What would you like to eat?"
The two sat down. Lin Feng placed the ball beside his feet and leaned it against the table leg.
Cheng Yuxin picked up the menu on the table and looked at it.
"Pork and cabbage dumplings, one pound." She looked up at Lin Feng. "Is that enough?"
Lin Feng said, "Give me another half a pound of chives and eggs."
Cheng Yuxin glanced at him.
"Can you finish it?"
Lin Feng said, "I'm hungry."
Cheng Yuxin smiled and told the landlady.
The proprietress called out, "One pound of pork and cabbage, half a pound of chives and eggs—and two bowls of dumpling soup!"
While waiting for the dumplings, Cheng Yuxin leaned on the table, tilting her head to look at Lin Feng.
Lin Feng felt a little uncomfortable under her gaze.
"What's wrong?"
Cheng Yuxin said, "The way you played today was different from usual."
Lin Feng asked, "How is it different?"
Cheng Yuxin thought for a moment.
"Normally you... are like an adult. You speak and act like an adult. But when you play ball, you're like a child."
Lin Feng was stunned for a moment.
Cheng Yuxin said, "He's the kind of kid who's...exceptionally happy. His eyes are bright, unlike usual."
Lin Feng didn't speak.
Cheng Yuxin added, "You smile all the time, but it's a different kind of smile. When you smile while playing ball, it's genuine happiness."
Lin Feng looked down at the chopstick holder on the table.
"Is that so?" he said.
Cheng Yuxin hummed in agreement.
The dumplings were served. Two large plates, steaming hot. Vinegar, minced garlic, and chili oil were also laid out on the table.
Lin Feng picked up a pork and cabbage dish, took a bite, and gasped because it was so hot, but he didn't spit it out. He chewed it a couple of times and swallowed it.
"It's delicious," he said.
Cheng Yuxin also picked one up, blew on it, and took a small bite.
The two of them buried their heads in their food, neither of them saying a word.
After eating most of the plate, Lin Feng slowed down and looked up at Cheng Yuxin.
Cheng Yuxin ate slowly, dipping each piece of food in vinegar and taking small bites. She ate very politely, unlike him, who wolfed down his food.
She felt his gaze and looked up.
"What are you looking at?"
Lin Feng said, "Sister Yuxin, you're wearing makeup today."
