Chapter 207. Searching for Traces of the Cancerous Universe
This was a day of grief; mournful music filled the streets and alleys, and people wore sorrowful expressions, tears streaming down their faces, unable to believe the news.
Spider-Man is dead. The Spider-Man who fought against evil alien forces and protected Earth is dead.
At first, no one believed the news, thinking it was just another evil force spreading panic.
But when Spider-Man's body appeared at the funeral home, everyone was stunned. Spider-Man was really dead. The shocking wounds and his young face made people sigh, sighing that he died so painfully at such a young age.
Some speculate that evil forces have invaded again and dealt a heavy blow to Spider-Man, while others speculate that the government is dissatisfied with Spider-Man for doing what the government should do, so it secretly took action.
But no matter how you speculate, Spider-Man is dead, that's an undeniable fact. His sudden death makes one sigh with regret.
At the entrance of the funeral home, countless white chrysanthemums were piled up, almost covering the entire entrance, as a final tribute from people who came spontaneously to mourn.
Takuya's girlfriend thanked each guest who offered chrysanthemums while tears streamed down her face. Spider-Man's death was the most painful for her. In the end, the two people who loved each other did not end up together.
Unfortunately—it was all an act.
In a corner of the funeral home, there were two empty benches, on which sat two invisible figures—one was Ji Yuan, and the other was the deceased Tuo Ye.
That Takuya corpse was obviously a fake.
"Your girlfriend's acting is really good. I thought you were really dead," Ji Yuan teased with a smile.
Takuya gave an awkward smile: "I didn't expect her tears to be so genuine. But with such a simple plan, can the evil god really fall for it?"
"Don't worry, with the change in perception, the evil god's followers won't be able to tell. I only need the evil god behind me to show a trace of its aura."
This was Ji Yuan's plan: to fake Takuya's death, deceive the evil god's followers in this universe, and finally attract the gaze of the Eye Demon.
Takuya has a very high proportion in this universe. To invade this universe, one must either assimilate him or kill him.
With last night's nightmare incident, we can use this as a pretext to make Takuya die in his dream.
As the child of the universe, Takuya unleashed a burst of power before his death, causing the connection between the dream demon and the eye demon to break. That makes perfect sense, right?
Moreover, Ji Yuan didn't kill the Dream Demon at all, making it even easier to deceive that Eye Demon's familiar.
"Mr. Ji Yuan, I wonder if I could trouble you with something?" Takuya asked somewhat embarrassedly.
"You say so." Ji Yuan was lost in thought, closely observing the evil god's follower. The first thing he would assimilate would definitely be Earth, which was the center of the universe.
"I mean—is there any way to make ordinary citizens forget that I'm Spider-Man? You know, having my identity exposed is a huge problem for me," Takuya pleaded.
He really didn't want to experience that feeling of being the center of attention; it felt too unreal.
"No problem, just erase a memory, it's a small matter." Ji Yuan said nonchalantly. Erasing memories was very simple for him now, and he could even directly go back to that period of time.
"That's great, thank you so much, Mr. Ji Yuan." Takuya smiled broadly. It had taken him a lot of courage to reveal his identity. This world was far from as bright as he had imagined. After all, this was not the universe that Peter had described, the one where light shone on the earth.
As time went by, more and more people came to the funeral home to send flowers to Takuya. Looking at these flowers, he didn't know what to say for a moment. Attending his own funeral while he was still alive was a rare experience.
"They're here!"
Just as Takuya was "enjoying" the funeral, Ji Yuan, who was standing next to him, suddenly spoke up to remind him.
Before I could think any further, I could already hear the sounds of panic and fear coming from outside the funeral home.
"What is that?! What is that thing?!"
"Tentacles! Huge tentacles!"
"Run! Run faster!"
"The end of the world is coming! The end of the world is coming!"
People screamed in terror, in complete chaos, their bodies filled with fear—what a monster it was!
Yellow tentacles covered the entire sky, with fine fangs on them. An indescribable stench filled the air, staining the entire sky blood-red, a scene reminiscent of the end of the world.
Takuya's girlfriend and mentor were speechless with shock. Last night, Takuya said he was going to play dead, and they believed him without hesitation, saying it was to lure out a monster, but they didn't say it was this kind of monster.
The monster shrouded the entire sky. They even saw it grab the sun and the moon, put them in its mouth, and devour them in a few bites. Its tentacles then stretched rapidly toward the Earth.
Soon, governments around the world reacted, and countless nuclear missiles were launched into the sky, charging towards the monster in the heavens.
"Boom!"
The nuclear bomb exploded upon contact with the monster's tentacles.
The blazing light obscured the sky, releasing endless light and heat. People on the ground closed their eyes. The light of humanity's ultimate weapon was too intense to look at directly; it was a light even more blazing than the sun.
The entire sky was covered with a thin layer of mist, a product of the nuclear explosion.
World leaders and people from all countries looked up at the sky, praying that the monster would be blown up. Even though the disappearance of the sun and moon would cause devastating damage to the earth, they could not think about that anymore; the monster was simply too terrifying.
"roar!"
A desperate roar came from the clouds, accompanied by tentacles full of fangs, without a single scratch. Humanity's proudest weapon had not left even a mark on the monster, but instead only made it angrier.
"Mr. Ji Yuan, aren't you going to make a move?" Takuya asked anxiously, watching the tentacles getting closer and closer and hearing the chaotic sounds outside.
"No rush." Ji Yuan squinted and waved his hand; the aura of the Eye Demon had not yet appeared.
Finally, just as the tentacles touched the earth and flesh was about to spread, a wave that no one could perceive, yet which was even more majestic than the universe, appeared. It was faint, but so conspicuous in Ji Yuan's perception.
"The time has come!"
"Transform!"
Just when humanity on Earth was plunged into despair, a battle roar suddenly rang in everyone's ears, high-pitched and sacred.
A beam of light suddenly appeared in the sky, and in an instant, the light transformed into a human form—a mysterious giant with a silver-white body and wings on its back.
The giant raised his hands high, and endless light emanated from them, forming a lightning-like network of energy. With just a gentle push, the tentacle monster that shrouded the sky turned to ashes.
Immediately afterwards, a beam of light flashed, and the entire universe was bathed in this light.
Time has been reversed!
The sun that had vanished returned, the moon that had been swallowed reappeared, everything was going backwards, a mighty force shifted the axis of time, and time on Earth returned to night.
Apart from Takuya, no one knew what had happened; their memories also returned to that night.
Lying in bed, Takuya was utterly shocked. He gently touched his girlfriend and received a soft groan of dissatisfaction.
He tiptoed out of bed and stood on the balcony, looking at the cloudless sky, the cool moonlight shining on his face without obstruction.
Takuya exhaled, his eyes filled with shock.
"Ultraman, awesome!"
