Chapter 22 Graduation Exam
Chapter 22 Graduation Exam
The teacher who was speaking had anticipated this scene. He smiled and said, "Hyuga Kaede Chunin is an outstanding ninja who has performed exceptionally well while stationed at the border."
"You guys need to be on your toes later, so that the seniors don't think that the school's graduates are getting worse and worse each year."
The words weren't particularly sophisticated, but they were very effective.
Countless boys were eager to put on a good show today.
The teacher on the stage continued, "The third is the Three Bodies Techniques assessment this afternoon."
"The teachers will evaluate your performance comprehensively. Only those who pass two sections or excel in one section will graduate."
"Keep it up, everyone!"
Then, the teacher got up to maintain order, and Hyuga Kaede also came to the field to act as the referee for the match.
"Next, I'll call out the names. First group, Ebisu, versus Higashino Daiki..."
As the teacher called out names one by one, those whose names were called came to the center of the field, formed the opposing hand seals, and then began the battle.
The final battle before graduation was held in front of many teachers and the goddess Hinata Kaede-senpai, so everyone took it very seriously and fought with more focus than usual.
All eyes were on the battle.
Obito Uchiha did not.
He stood beside Nohara Rin, but instead of feeling happy as usual, he felt a chill run through his body.
Like his heart.
He stared blankly at his classmates in the midst of the battle, his mind filled with images of Nohara Rin and Kamitsuki Seiun.
Rin Nohara quickly noticed his condition.
The anger in my heart had long since subsided.
After all, Obito Uchiha was a good friend, and Rin Nohara felt even more sorry for him seeing him like this.
She reached out and tugged at the other person's sleeve.
He said in his usual tone, "Obito, look. That person on the stage is amazing."
Obito turned his head, and a second later his eyes focused, meeting Rin Nohara's gaze. He subconsciously replied, "Yeah, right."
"That's amazing."
Rin Nohara: "Obito, are you stronger, or is that person on stage stronger?"
Obito Uchiha: "Probably... about right."
Rin Nohara: "Really? Then guess who will win between the two on stage?"
Obito Uchiha didn't know.
But he felt as if he had come back to life.
The familiar warmth gradually dispelled the chill from my body.
"Probably the one wearing sunglasses."
"Ebisu seems to have a stronger presence than the other side."
Rin Nohara: "Were you angry with me just now?"
Obito Uchiha: "Hmm...hmm?!"
No, no.
Obito Uchiha quickly broke into a smile, scratching the back of his head as he chuckled, "Rin, why would I be angry with you?"
No, it won't.
Rin Nohara: "Really? You're not kidding me?"
Obito Uchiha: "Of course."
Rin Nohara's clear eyes observed Obito's eyes, and amidst the latter's tension, she said noncommittally, "Perhaps."
"Let's continue."
Obito Uchiha: "Mhm. (Grinning face emoji)"
Turning her head, Nohara Rin thought to herself: It should be alright now. It seems I need to be more careful about my attitude towards Obito from now on.
Obito Uchiha: I almost died. Hmm... Rin and that guy are probably just ordinary friends. I was just overthinking it.
Both of them had their own worries.
Meanwhile, the battle on the stage began to intensify.
Some people win, and some people lose.
Some players used every trick in the book, delivering spectacular performances that earned cheers and applause. Others hesitated, timid and indecisive. Whenever this happened, Hyuga Kaede would stop the match without hesitation and make a note of it.
Then everyone understood. Delaying was useless; the referee would make a judgment in the shortest possible time, and everyone fought even more seriously.
"Next group, Mizuki, will face Shingetsu Nebula."
As the teacher announced the names of the next pair to compete, the crowd suddenly fell silent.
Then, their eyes lit up in unison.
"nebula!"
"It's our Nebula!"
"Go Nebula! Nebula is the coolest!"
"Mua~"
The girl's voice was impossible to suppress.
Amid the noise, a white-haired boy was the first to enter.
A sunny smile appeared on his fairly handsome face.
"Nebula."
"It's our turn."
He smiled brightly, as if he were a good friend of Shenyue Xingyun.
In reality, Shingetsu Seiun never had any contact with the other party while at the Ninja Academy.
Shuimu: "Don't hold back later."
The Divine Moon Nebula, having reached the center of the arena, formed a seal of opposition.
He smiled too.
If Mizuki's smile can be described as radiant sunshine, then the moment Shingetsu Seiun smiled, it was as if the world brightened up for a moment.
The girls exclaimed "Wow!" in unison. Shui Mu's cheeks twitched as she heard this, and a barely perceptible hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes.
These shallow women!
She's just a bottom-of-the-class student. Is she worth all this adulation just because of her face?
Hiding his emotions deep inside, Mizuki looked at Shingetsu Seiun, who had just completed the Seal of Opposition, and laughed heartily.
"Nebula, I'm here!"
……
"Red Bean, skipping class isn't a good idea, is it? The teacher will find out!"
"Oh, so what? At worst, you can tell the teacher that I forced you to skip class."
"How could a teacher possibly believe such nonsense?"
"I don't care, Xiyan, you have to come with me this time."
Just as Shenyue Xingyun made her appearance, two figures stealthily slipped into the crowd from the back. With each push and shove, they moved further and further forward.
Finally, amidst a series of disgruntled voices and stares, the two squeezed to the front, where they could see the situation clearly.
"Wow~" Mitarashi Anko, a spirited young woman dressed in a mesh outfit, exclaimed in surprise.
"Xiyan, we just made it in time for Xingyun's performance!"
The purple-haired girl, whom she was pulling, replied irritably, "I know, I know."
"Everyday Nebula Nebula".
"He's just a boy, is it really necessary?" Uzuki Yugao said, first checking if her clothes were dirty or messed up during the shoving. After finding no problem, she looked at Mitarashi Anko.
Mitarashi Anko said, "Oh dear, you're always with Hayate, or hiding at home practicing your swordsmanship. How can this be?"
"As your good friend, let me show you what a real handsome guy is."
"Tch~" Uzuki Yugao said dismissively.
She had heard girls mention Shenyue Xingyun quite a few times, calling her things like "peerless beauty," "a fairy reincarnated," "the hand of God," and "a heartbreaker among female students."
She listened to it all as just silly gossip from a young girl.
"What handsome guy?" she muttered, glancing at the two people fighting in the arena. "Even if he's handsome, how handsome can he be..."
The sound stopped abruptly.
"Let me tell you, a real handsome guy is nothing like those boys in the class. One look at him and you feel refreshed, one whiff of him and you feel good."
"Yugao, I only brought you here because we're good friends. Don't think I just dragged you along because I skipped class and had no one to keep me company." Mitarashi Akane stared wide-eyed at Shinzuki Seiun in the arena, completely unaware that her good friend had suddenly gone silent.
