Chapter 10 The Opportunity to Become Stronger
Chapter 10 The Opportunity to Become Stronger
Chu Xinyao was still hesitating. Could she really do it?
Seeing this, Long Tingting decided to add fuel to the fire. She really couldn't stand Chu Xinyao's delicate and weak appearance, like a little white flower. "How about this, I'll teach you. You know my strength very well. At least I'll make sure you can beat those men from before."
Chu Xinyao's eyes lit up. Look at Boss Long's confidence; those dozen or so male beastmen are no match for him.
"Boss, can you really make me stronger?" Her eyes sparkled; it didn't matter if she couldn't beat those ordinary male beastmen. Who was this? Her idol, Boss Dragon!
......
Long Tingting, who could hear her inner thoughts, was speechless. Did this guy even realize that there was a problem?
"Boss, what should I do now?"
"Don't call me 'boss' anymore, just call me Sister Long or Sister Ting!" I always feel that calling me 'boss' has a slightly sarcastic tone to it.
She can call her "Big Sister Ting" now! Wow! I'm so excited. Should she call her that with a smile, or seriously, or just casually? My inner voice is screaming, "I'm so conflicted!"
Chu Xinyao's mood was clearly excited by Long Tingting's words. She didn't look forward to becoming stronger, but she was looking forward to the fact that the teacher was Boss Long, and Boss Long even allowed her to call her sister!
Seeing Chu Xinyao's excited expression, Long Tingting felt a warmth in her heart.
"Alright, you need to calm down now. Becoming stronger isn't something that can be achieved overnight; it requires persistent effort," Long Tingting said seriously.
"Yes, I will, Sister Ting." Chu Xinyao nodded, equally earnest.
She began to wash herself quickly in the stream. She didn't have many clothes or animal hides, and since she felt she was too conspicuous anyway, she just wore the dirty animal hide skirt. She walked along the stream for a while and found a relatively secluded spot, where she decided to rest for a bit.
Chu Xinyao sat on a flat rock, took out some roasted shea butter and minced animal meat from her bundle, and began to eat. As she ate, she observed her surroundings to make sure her chosen resting place was safe enough.
She actually discovered something unusual.
[Sister Ting, have you noticed?]
Sitting here quietly, you can clearly hear the rustling of the leaves around you, the babbling of the stream, and the occasional birdsong from afar.
But on a branch of a large tree not far from her, a monkey was quietly observing her, its eyes darting around with a clever glint in them. The monkey's fur shimmered softly in the sunlight, and its tail swayed gently to maintain its balance.
[I just noticed that too. Keep eating. It's probably not an orc; I don't think it's that strong.]
Chu Xinyao did not react at all, but continued to eat her food while keeping an eye on the monkey's every move out of the corner of her eye.
The monkey seemed to realize that Chu Xinyao wasn't that powerful. It jumped down from the tree and slowly approached her. Its movements were agile and silent.
[Sister Ting, it's coming this way, what should we do?]
[What's there to be afraid of in a monkey, as long as it's not an orc?]
When the monkey got close enough, it stopped. Chu Xinyao put down the shea butter in her hand, took out a small piece of meat from her bundle, and gestured to the monkey.
"Are you hungry? Here, take this," Chu Xinyao said softly, with a hint of friendliness.
Monkeys? There's nothing to be afraid of.
Just as she was thinking this, when the monkey looked up, she saw the look of amazement in its eyes as it saw her face clearly.
Chu Xinyao suddenly stood up, causing the shea butter beside her to roll away, startling the monkey, which then retreated and disappeared in a flash.
[Sister Ting, is that a monkey?] Chu Xinyao was slightly startled and a little uneasy.
Long Tingting was silent for a moment, then replied:
[You should rest and recover. This might not be an ordinary animal, and we don't know if it's some kind of orcish trick. After all, they're not human, and we don't know what strange abilities they possess.]
[good. ]
Chu Xinyao was uneasy, but she still followed Long Tingting's advice and decided to rest to recover her strength.
Arriving at a large tree she had chosen beforehand, its trunk thick and its branches lush enough to shield her from view, Chu Xinyao carefully climbed the tree, found a suitable branch, sat down, and rested against the trunk.
Perhaps because of the agility fruit she ate, although she was not as nimble as before, she still climbed up very easily.
[Sister Ting, is this really okay?]
[You rest first, I'll watch over things for you. Don't worry, with me here, you won't get hurt.]
Chu Xinyao nodded, clutching her bundle tightly, and closed her eyes to rest. Perhaps she was truly exhausted, for she drifted off to sleep.
She didn't know how much time had passed when she heard a slight noise coming from under the tree. This startled her awake, and she hurriedly sat up in the tree.
[Don't be afraid, it's nothing, it's just that monkey.]
monkey!
Chu Xinyao's heart jumped into her throat. She held her breath and listened carefully.
The sound grew closer, and it seemed as if something was lingering under the tree.
Chu Xinyao quietly took out the dagger from her bundle, ready to deal with any possible danger at any time.
Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared in her sight—it was the monkey. It showed no aggression, simply sitting quietly under the tree, looking up at Chu Xinyao. The previous amazement in its eyes was gone, replaced by curiosity.
Chu Xinyao breathed a sigh of relief, realizing very clearly that the monkey was just curious.
Then she began to wonder how she could see such human emotions on a monkey's furry face.
[Sister Ting, I feel like this monkey is acting strange. Let's leave!]
[Well, how's your recovery going?]
Chu Xinyao carefully assessed her surroundings and confirmed that her body had regained its previous agility. [That's good. If I don't run for that long this time, I won't feel exhausted.]
Okay, let's go!
Chu Xinyao lightly touched the ground with her feet, leaped down from the tree, and disappeared in a few bounds.
Chu Xinyao was overjoyed, feeling the gentle breeze, but before she could be happy for long, Long Tingting's words plunged her into an icy abyss.
[That monkey is still following you; it seems there really is some mysterious force we don't know about, coveting you.]
Chu Xinyao panicked; the unknown was far more terrifying.
[Don't worry, keep going, I'll figure something out.] Long Tingting told her to keep going, and then told Chu Xinyao a plan.
The monkey followed Chu Xinyao at a comfortable distance, looking quite content. It had never seen such a beautiful female before, no wonder the powerful King of the Forest was so nervous.
It was agile and could easily leap between branches. Chu Xinyao's movements, which were incredibly nimble in the eyes of other beastmen, were much slower than its own, a nimble monkey.
Suddenly, a gust of wind swept by, and clods of earth exploded at its feet with a loud bang. This sudden noise terrified the monkey; its hair stood on end, its eyes widened, its ears perked up, and it lowered its body, poised to flee at any moment.
However, instead of running away immediately, it looked around, trying to find the culprit that attacked it in the dusty environment.
There's nothing around that could threaten it!
The monkey tilted its head, looking somewhat puzzled.
"Don't follow me anymore, or next time, it won't be something as harmless as a clod of dirt." Chu Xinyao stared at it coldly, uttering a harsh threat.
Upon hearing Chu Xinyao's warning, the monkey's body trembled slightly. Its bright eyes quickly shifted from its surroundings to Chu Xinyao's beautiful face; it never expected it to be her!
The beautiful female attacked him and warned him not to follow her anymore. The monkey was inexplicably unhappy. It wanted to approach her, but when it saw the "weapon" in the female's hand, it was stunned. It was something it had never seen before, just a strange rope tied to a tree branch. Was it the one that had just thrown the clod of dirt at its feet?
Chu Xinyao frowned slightly. The monkey didn't seem to have taken her warning to heart and hadn't left. It seemed the clod of earth wasn't powerful enough to scare the monkey away.
