Chapter 289 Employment Compensation
Chapter 289 Employment Compensation
In a residential building near the city center, Han Che led Qi Yuzhe to a dark red security door.
With a somewhat grating metallic scraping sound, a room that was fairly clean was revealed.
Han Che took Qi Yuzhe back to the house Han Che rented near the city center.
"Let's stay here in the player world for now. It's not a big place, but it'll do."
As Han Che spoke, he casually hung the trench coat over his tracksuit on the coat rack by the entrance.
Qi Yuzhe, who was standing outside the door, stepped into the house. His eyes scanned the sofa, coffee table, and television in the living room, and his expression showed some surprise.
"I didn't expect you to have rented a place here, and it's actually quite well-furnished."
"We need a place to stay," Han Che said.
Turning around, I realized that Qi Yuzhe had already come in and was already wandering around the lobby with practiced ease.
Qi Yuzhe bent over, reached out and touched the gaps in the TV cabinet, then pulled open the kitchen cabinets, and even peeked through the plastic curtain in the bathroom.
Han Che crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe, looking somewhat helpless. He asked irritably, "What are you looking for? You've been rummaging around everywhere since you came in."
Qi Yuzhe poked half his body out of the kitchen, holding an empty plastic jar in his hand.
"Let's see how you're doing here," Qi Yuzhe grinned, looking somewhat like a raven in prison.
"I still prefer your current smug face. Back at the 78 Club, your polite college student act almost made me throw up on the spot."
"Tch, that's called professionalism. If I didn't act like a normal person, would your newbie boss feel comfortable taking in a freelancer like me with an unknown background into the team? I'm helping you relieve some pressure, understand, old man?"
Qi Yuzhe dusted off his hands, swayed back to the living room, and plopped down on the sofa.
"I didn't buy anything extra here. The place is exactly as it was when I rented it. I just come back here to sleep." Han Che explained casually, then reached under the coffee table and tossed a bottle of mineral water over.
Qi Yuzhe took the water, unscrewed the cap, and took a big gulp. Then, he looked around with some dissatisfaction.
"Where are the snacks, Lao Ge? I've been on the road for most of the day, and my stomach is rumbling. Don't you even have a decent bag of biscuits or chips in this house besides running water?"
Han Che raised an eyebrow, amused, and pointed at the other person's innocent face. "So you were waiting for me here!"
"Alright, stop lounging on the sofa and get up. I'll take you to the supermarket downstairs. I also need to buy some daily necessities so I can get everything I need here all at once."
Qi Yuzhe immediately beamed with joy, jumped up from the sofa, and followed Han Che to the supermarket that Han Che frequented.
It was getting dark outside, and the neon lights on both sides of the street were gradually lighting up.
The two chatted idly on the way, and Qi Yuzhe asked Han Che, "Why did you want to come to Player World? Isn't it good to stay in Hafk?"
Han Che paused slightly upon hearing this question. He turned his head, glanced at Qi Yuzhe, and retorted, "Then why did you insist on coming to the player world?"
"Nonsense, I'm in jail! Who likes being in jail? Of course I'll get out if I can!" Qi Yuzhe said irritably.
Han Che was speechless, and just pursed his lips without saying anything.
"I've finished answering, what about you?" Qi Yuzhe continued to press.
"In order to..." Han Che thought for a moment, "to know yourself and your enemy."
"Players come to my Day and Night Prison whenever they have free time; I need to know their situation," Han Che explained.
"Oh? Is that so? I noticed you take these players quite seriously. I thought you'd enjoy life here," Qi Yuzhe teased.
"We're not from here after all..." Han Che said softly, as if talking to himself.
"We've arrived." The two entered the supermarket, which was quite crowded at the time, with a dazzling array of goods filling the towering shelves to capacity.
Qi Yuzhe, who had been looking serious, immediately widened his eyes when he saw the colorful food packaging bags.
He couldn't hide the excitement on his face. He grabbed a shopping cart from the side and started weaving quickly through the various snack shelves.
Han Che covered his face slightly, silently complaining in his heart.
The two wandered around the supermarket a few times, and when Han Che saw Qi Yuzhe again, his shopping cart was already full of all kinds of snacks.
"You bought so many snacks?" Han Che asked, frowning.
"We finally got to come out, so of course we should buy more!" Qi Yuzhe said matter-of-factly.
Han Che was speechless. He put the tissues, toothpaste and other daily necessities he was holding into the full shopping cart and pushed it to the checkout counter.
The checkout line wasn't long today, and it was Han Che and his group's turn soon.
Han Che originally intended to pay for his daily necessities separately, but Qi Yuzhe replied to the cashier from behind, "Together."
Han Che looked at him with a puzzled expression. "You want me to pay for these snacks?"
"Otherwise what?" Qi Yuzhe asked innocently. "I don't have any money."
Han Che closed his eyes speechlessly, feeling a throbbing pain in his temples. "Fine, let's just get it over with."
Qi Yuzhe carried two large bags full of snacks from his shopping cart back to Han Che's residence.
Qi Yuzhe retorted, "Consider it payment for hiring me, don't be so stingy!"
Han Che retorted, "You insisted on coming to the player world, I didn't invite you, so why would you ask for compensation!"
Qi Yuzhe shrugged. "Stop pretending, Geheros!" Then he chuckled and moved closer. "Your little white boss already said you mentioned me to her a while ago, that you wanted to bring me along!"
"You clearly planned this all along, just wanting to use me as free labor!" Qi Yuzhe patted Han Che's shoulder with a grin. "How difficult must it be for our warden to need help? Tell me quickly!"
Han Che was a bit overwhelmed; this raven was indeed smarter than he had imagined.
He glanced at Qi Yuzhe, reached out and slapped Qi Yuzhe's unruly right hand off his shoulder, and said with a long face and a sigh, "The main problem is that the other side has a lot of people, and I also have my boss to protect, so I can't be in two places at once."
Qi Yuzhe nodded and plopped down on the sofa. "I understand all of this. Tell me about the other party's situation?"
