Chapter 22 Mysterious Murals and the Passage Crisis

Chapter 22 Mysterious Murals and the Passage Crisis

The dazzling light emanating from the golden box clashed with the dark power released by the shadowy figure. For a moment, the secret chamber flickered with light and the air currents surged, as if an invisible war was raging.

Huanmo gripped his sword tightly, his gaze fixed on the light, a mixture of surprise and doubt in his heart. He pondered to himself, what secrets did this golden box hold that could unleash such miraculous power in such a critical moment? At this moment, his heart was filled with the determination to protect Wanru and uncover the truth. Although he couldn't help feeling uneasy in the face of this unknown and powerful force, he knew he must not back down.

Wanru hid behind Huanmo, her eyes fixed on the golden box, her mind filled with shock. Just moments ago, she felt utterly helpless against this dark power, but in the blink of an eye, this box had become their lifeline. She couldn't help but hope that the box's power would continue, leading them out of their predicament. At the same time, she was filled with curiosity about the newly appeared murals—could that passage to the outside world truly lead to safety?

The white-robed man continued to play a stirring melody on his jade flute, his eyes focused yet wary. This series of events made him increasingly aware of the unfathomable secrets behind it all, and they seemed to be being drawn step by step into an even larger mystery. But at this moment, the primary task was to defeat this mysterious figure before exploring the passage indicated by the mural.

The white tiger stared intently at the dark figure, its white fur standing on end as it exerted force, ready to pounce again and deliver a fatal blow.

As time passed, the light from the golden box gradually gained the upper hand, and the dark power began to slowly recede. Seeing this, the shadowy figure let out a furious roar of resentment, and with a flash, disappeared into the shadows of the secret chamber, leaving only a harsh threat echoing in the air: "Don't be so smug, this isn't over!"

Huanmo breathed a sigh of relief, but he knew the danger wasn't truly over; the dark figure could reappear at any moment. He turned to Wanru and the man in white and said, "We need to quickly check what's going on with the passage in the mural; maybe this is our chance to leave."

Wanru and the man in white nodded, and the three of them walked together toward the newly appeared mural.

The passage in the mural is depicted with remarkable clarity. The walls of the passage appear to be made of some kind of smooth stone, and the bright, open space at its end seems full of hope, like a paradise. However, the enormous vortex in the middle of the passage exudes an eerie aura. The unknown power within the vortex seems to be constantly distorting the surrounding space, inspiring fear in anyone who looks at it.

"This passage doesn't look easy to navigate. That whirlpool in the middle is definitely dangerous," Wanru said, her brow furrowed, a hint of worry in her voice.

Huanmo carefully observed the murals, pondering a solution. "In any case, we have no other choice now but to try to take this path, though we must be extra careful of the whirlpool."

The man in white nodded in agreement and said, "I will use the power of the jade flute to protect everyone as much as possible. If we encounter any danger, we must look out for each other."

Having made their decision, the three, led by the white tiger, began searching for the actual entrance to the passage corresponding to the mural.

On one side of the secret chamber, they discovered a hidden stone door, with symbols carved on it similar to those in the murals. Huanmo stepped forward and pushed the stone door forcefully, but it did not budge.

"It seems we need to find a way to open this stone door," Huanmo said, frowning.

The man in white stepped forward, carefully examined the stone door, then took out a small dagger from his pocket, inserted it into the crack of the stone door, and tried to pry it open.

After some effort, the stone door finally opened slowly, and an ancient aura rushed out. Behind the door was the passage depicted in the mural.

The passageway was dimly lit, with only a few faintly glowing blue gems embedded in the walls at intervals providing some illumination. Huanmo entered the passageway first, his steps light, his sword ready to be drawn at any moment, as he vigilantly observed his surroundings.

Wanru followed closely behind Huanmo, reaching out to grab the hem of his clothes, her heart filled with both nervousness and anticipation. She was nervous because she didn't know what dangers she might encounter in this passage, but she was also hopeful that perhaps they could really use this passage to leave this mysterious underground palace and return to a relatively safe place.

The man in white, holding a jade flute, walked at the back. As he walked, he played a soft melody, which seemed to form a protective layer in the dimly lit passage, giving people a sense of security.

They walked slowly along the passage, and the further they went, the stronger the eerie aura emanating from the vortex became.

When they reached the middle of the passage, where the giant vortex was located, they truly felt the immense power of that unknown force.

The vortex, like a giant black hole, spun endlessly, emitting a low, buzzing sound, distorting and warping the surrounding space. Light was also severely distorted here, making it impossible to see the true state of things around us.

Huanmo stopped, gripped his sword tightly, and shouted, "Everyone be careful! This vortex is very powerful. Don't get sucked in!"

Wanru stared at the whirlpool, terrified. Her legs felt weak. She wanted to hold onto Huanmo tightly, but fearing it would hinder his ability to deal with the danger, she could only suppress her fear and ask, "Huanmo, what should we do?"

The man in white also stopped playing. He frowned as he looked at the vortex and said, "I'll try to use the power of the jade flute to interfere with it. You guys try to find an opportunity to go around it."

Having said that, the man in white placed the jade flute to his lips and began to play a rapid and mysterious melody. The melody transformed into invisible forces that shot towards the vortex.

However, the vortex only paused slightly before continuing to spin wildly, as if it didn't take the white-clad man's attack seriously at all.

Just then, the vortex suddenly generated a powerful suction force, rushing towards them.

Huanmo reacted quickly, grabbing Wanru in his arms and trying to resist the suction with his own strength. The man in white also clung tightly to the wall beside him, struggling to avoid being sucked in.

But the suction was so strong that they felt like fallen leaves in the wind, about to be swept into the vortex at any moment.

In this critical moment, Wanru suddenly remembered the golden box. She thought that since the golden box had previously emitted light to block the dark forces, it might be able to help now as well.

So she focused her mind and tried to reactivate the power of the golden box.

The moment she mobilized her power, the golden box indeed emitted a dazzling light again, even brighter than before, like a solid barrier separating them from the vortex's suction.

Huanmo and the man in white were overjoyed at the sight.

"Wanru, well done!" Huanmo praised.

Wanru also breathed a sigh of relief. She felt her strength was gradually being exhausted, but as long as she could protect everyone, she felt that everything was worth it.

Just when they thought they were safe for the time being, a melodious flute sound suddenly came from the end of the passage. The flute sound was completely different from the tune played by the man in white. It was more ethereal and distant, as if it came from another world.
