Chapter 290 Game World 18
Chapter 290 Game World 18
Lin Xiaoqian placed the tray in front of Xia Bennu and Pavyu, saying, "Your cocktails and drinks, please enjoy."
Xia Bennu looked at the brightly colored, layered cocktail in front of him, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. "This is the drink you made? It looks quite nice."
She reached for the wine glass, gently swirled it, and fine bubbles rose in the liquid, while lemon slices lightly bumped against the glass as she swirled.
Xia Bennu held it to her nose and sniffed. A scent mixed with fruit and wine wafted up and she couldn't help but take a small sip.
"Hmm..." Shabennu narrowed his eyes slightly, savoring the taste of the liquor spreading in his mouth. "It tastes pretty good, a different flavor from Bai Meets Boy. Hmm, Pavyu, this cocktail tastes alright, wouldn't you like one?"
Pavyu shook his head. "No."
She picked up a slender metal spoon and gently stirred the drink in her hand. In the yellow liquid, some red and yellow fruit pieces floated up and down.
She scooped a spoonful and put it in her mouth. There were slightly bitter particles, but mostly a sweet fruity aroma, and chewy little things dancing on her tongue, making for a very rich taste.
"What's in this? It tastes really unique." Pavyu looked at Lin Xiaoqian curiously.
Lin Xiaoqian explained with a smile, "The yellow ones are mango chunks, the red ones are grapefruit, both are the same fruit, and the transparent ones are sago pearls. We also added some coconut milk, so the flavor is very rich."
"Mango? Grapefruit? I've never heard of these two fruits before."
Lin Xiaoqian had no choice but to bring up the story that they had traveled to a very far place and accidentally discovered a new variety of fruit.
Xia Bennu looked at her suspiciously, pointed his snake-headed cane in Lin Xiaoqian's direction and said, "Little girl, I have traveled all over Hyrule and have never seen these two kinds of fruit before."
Lin Xiaoqian could only put on a mysterious expression and say, "Who said this fruit is from Hyrule? There are other continents besides Hyrule."
Xia Bennu and Pavyu exchanged a glance after hearing Lin Xiaoqian's words, both showing expressions of surprise.
"Other continents?" Shabennu narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at Lin Xiaoqian with interest. "I thought Hyrule was the only landmass in the world, but I didn't expect there to be other continents. Little girl, you're not lying to us, are you?"
Lin Xiaoqian smiled and said, "Why would I lie to you? The world is vast and full of wonders. During our travels, we accidentally wandered to the neighboring continent. There, we found not only mangoes and grapefruits, fruits that don't exist on Hyrule, but also many other ingredients."
Upon hearing this, Pavyu's eyes gleamed with longing. "I see, that sounds interesting. So, how can we get to that continent?"
Lin Xiaoqian shook her head: "Whether we went there or came back, it was all by chance. I don't really know how we got there."
She made a few more casual remarks to brush it off, and then changed the subject, asking them if there was anything else they wanted to eat.
Shabennu waved his hand: "I'm actually not hungry. What about you, Pavyu?"
"Hmm, I'm getting hungry. Could you please give me a poultry curry rice? You should have that here, right?"
Lin Xiaoqian nodded, "Of course, we have our own specialty poultry curry rice. Please wait a moment."
After Lin Xiaoqian left, Pavyu looked in the direction she had gone for a while, then lowered his head and muttered to himself, "Other continents?"
After hearing this, Xia Bennu glanced at her and said, "Hey, you actually believe what she said?"
Pavyu pointed with his spoon at the mango pomelo sago in front of him, "If you don't believe me, how do you explain this fruit?"
Shabennu remained silent, placed the snake-head cane on the table, took a sip of his cocktail, and squinted his eyes slightly, seemingly deep in thought.
Pavyu didn't say anything, continuing to stir the mango pomelo sago in his hand, occasionally scooping up a spoonful and putting it into his mouth.
Lin Xiaoqian returned to the kitchen and began busily preparing the poultry curry rice that Pavyu had ordered.
She first took out fresh chicken, cut it into small pieces, marinated it with the secret sauce provided by the system, then washed and diced carrots and potatoes, and sliced onions for later use.
Pour an appropriate amount of oil into a pan, heat it up, add the chicken and fry until browned, then remove and set aside. Heat oil in the pan again, add onions, carrots and potatoes and continue to stir-fry to fully release the aroma of the vegetables.
After stir-frying the vegetables until they softened slightly, Lin Xiaoqian added an appropriate amount of curry cubes and stirred slowly to allow them to fully melt. As the curry heated up, a rich aroma filled the entire kitchen. Lin Xiaoqian then returned the pan-fried chicken to the pot and stir-fried it evenly. She added water to cover the ingredients and simmered it over low heat for two minutes.
During the stewing process, she stirred it occasionally to prevent the ingredients from sticking to the pot and to make the curry flavor richer.
After about ten minutes, the poultry became tender and juicy, and the vegetables were cooked until soft and flavorful. Adding an appropriate amount of coconut milk made the taste even richer.
Lin Xiaoqian tasted it and, satisfied, immediately ladled it out and poured it over rice, thus completing a delicious and visually appealing poultry curry rice dish.
Looking at the tempting poultry curry rice in front of her, with the rice generously covered in thick curry sauce, tender chicken pieces, and soft carrots and potato chunks as garnishes, Pavyu couldn't help but feel her mouth water.
She picked up the spoon and eagerly scooped up a large spoonful of meat and vegetables, putting it into her mouth.
The poultry was so tender that Pavyu felt the chicken almost melt on his tongue. The vegetables were soft and tender, the curry was rich and mellow with a smooth texture and a hint of milkiness, and the rice was distinct, soft, sticky and chewy.
A spoonful of curry rice was so delicious that Pavyu's body trembled slightly.
Xia Bennu noticed her unusual expression and frowned, asking, "What's wrong? Is the curry rice at this restaurant really that bad?"
I don't think so. It smells really nice to her, and she suddenly feels a little hungry.
To her surprise, Pavyu ignored her completely and kept shoveling rice into his mouth, the spoon in his hand almost dancing in a blur.
Seeing Pavyu wolfing down his food, Xia Bennu became even more curious about the taste of the curry rice, and his heart was itching to try it.
Finally, she couldn't resist any longer. She reached for the spoon in the box next to her, scooped a spoonful from the plate, and put it in her mouth. Xia Bennu's eyes, which had been slightly critical, lit up the moment she tasted the curry rice.
"Mmm..." Xia Bennu unconsciously let out a satisfied groan, her eyes slightly narrowed. She had traveled to so many places and eaten so many delicacies, but she had never tasted such special curry rice.
After swallowing the curry rice in her mouth, Xia Bennu's hand unconsciously reached for the curry rice again, but Pavyu blocked her hand and put an arm around his plate.
"Xia Bennu, if you want more, you can have another serving. This bowl isn't enough for me."
Xia Bennu was both amused and exasperated by Pavyu's actions, and rolled her eyes speechlessly, "Why are you suddenly so stingy? Really, I'll just order another one myself."
As she spoke, she called out in Lin Xiaoqian's direction, "Give me a serving of poultry curry rice too, and hurry up!"

When Sabakaya and his two sons, Kizta, returned home, the restaurant was almost finished with its business. Kichuu was preparing dinner when he looked up and saw the three of them. He couldn't help but complain, "Sabakaya, where did you take the children? It took you so long. The restaurant was swamped just now."
Sabakaya dared not admit that he had used his own money to buy food.
With a forced smile, he walked over to Kizuo and handed her some condiments, saying, "Oh dear, Kizuo made a blunder at noon, and the child felt bad about it, so I talked to him a bit. What shall we eat tonight?"
Kizta looked up at his father, then lowered his head again without saying a word.
Kichuu put down the shovel in her hand, wiped her hands on her apron, and patted Kizita's head: "Are you still upset about what happened at noon? It was just a misunderstanding, Kizita, don't keep it to yourself. You'll always be the bravest child in your mother's heart. Tonight, I made your favorite meat rice, eat more later."
Kizta nodded obediently.
He was thinking to himself that he was no longer sad, especially after eating so much delicious food all afternoon. He felt incredibly happy, but he had to help his father hide the secret stash of money, so he could only pretend to still be bothered by what happened at noon.
Kichu Wuji patted his little head to comfort him, then picked up the spatula and continued stir-frying.
Kizta felt that he had probably eaten too much, so much so that he felt uncomfortable just smelling the food.
When dinner was ready, he surprisingly felt resistant to the large amount of meat his mother had specially prepared for him.
Kichuu said gently to Kizita, "Eat up, child. This time, Mommy has specially increased the amount of meat for you."
Kizta slowly picked up his chopsticks, looking at the large bowl of meat rice, feeling conflicted. His stomach was still full of the various delicacies he had eaten at the restaurant that afternoon, so he really didn't have much of an appetite.
He hesitated for a moment, then picked up a small piece of meat and put it in his mouth, chewing it diligently.
Although the taste of the meat rice was still familiar and to his liking, he couldn't taste the deliciousness of the past at this moment.
He used to think that his mother's meat rice was the best in the world, but now it just doesn't feel right. The meat seems a bit dry, the rice is a bit watery and not chewy enough, and there seems to be too much seasoning, making the flavor too strong.
Seeing Kizta's strained expression, Kichuu frowned slightly and asked with concern, "What's wrong, Kizta? Don't you have an appetite?"
Kizta quickly shook his head and mumbled, "Maybe it's because... I'm not very hungry."
Sabakaya watched from the side, understanding what was going on. He had just eaten his wife's cooking and suddenly felt that the taste was much worse.
Before today, he also thought that his wife was the best cook in the world, and no one could cook as well as Kichuu.
But after enjoying the delicious food at that restaurant this afternoon, he's now finding it hard to go back to a simpler lifestyle.
He cleared his throat and said, "Honey, I'm not really hungry right now. How about we eat later?"
Kichuu looked at Sabakaya, then at Kizta, his eyes full of worry. "What's wrong with me today? I'm not hungry at all, but the meat rice won't taste as good once it gets cold."
Then she suddenly looked at Gino: "Gino, did you like what you ate this afternoon?"
"Delicious!" Gino was poking at his food with a spoon when he heard his mother ask him, and he answered reflexively.
Kichuu looked at Sabakaya with a dangerous glint in his eyes. "What did you take the children to eat this afternoon?"
Sabakaa felt a chill run down his spine under Kichuuna's scrutinizing gaze, and a fine layer of sweat broke out on his forehead.
He stubbornly retorted, "What did you eat? Gino, what nonsense are you talking about? What did you eat this afternoon?" As he spoke, he glanced at his youngest son.
Kichuu snorted coldly, "If you didn't eat anything this afternoon, why doesn't any of you want to eat? Tell me!"
Sabakaya thought to himself that it was all over, but since he had almost spent all his savings anyway, he felt a bit like a bachelor and honestly confessed, "Honey, we didn't eat much. It's just that the group of people who came at noon said they also sell food, so I took the kids to scout out the enemy's strength and see what kind of food they make."
Towards the end, he adopted an expression that said, "I only went because of you." He puffed out his chest, his eyes carrying a hint of self-satisfaction.
Kichuu knew her husband all too well. Looking at him like this, she glared at him irritably. "Hmph, that's easy for you to say. I think you're just greedy. I was wondering why no one had any appetite for dinner. Turns out you ate so much outside. Wait, Sabakaya, where did you get the money?"
She glared angrily at her husband as she spoke.
Sabakaya thought to himself, "It's finally happened." He had no choice but to confess that he had been hiding money from his family.
“But I don’t have a single rupee left. The food at that shop was too expensive. I spent all my savings to help you gather intelligence.” She looked at Kichuu with a pitiful expression.
Kichuu was both amused and exasperated by her husband's expression, and her anger subsided considerably.
She glared at Sabakaya, annoyed. "You think you're right to hide money from others?"
Seeing that his wife seemed to have calmed down, Sabakaya seized the opportunity and quickly approached Kichuu, saying, "Darling, I promise I'll never hide money from you again, and I'll discuss everything with you. Besides, this trip wasn't entirely fruitless; their dishes were truly unique, and we can learn from them to improve our restaurant's cuisine."
He actually wanted to say that the food the other person made was really delicious, but he was afraid his wife would punch him.
Kichuu spends all day working at the stove and is quite strong; Sabakaya doesn't want to get beaten up.
