Chapter 7 Pure Yang Dao Foundation
Chapter 7 Pure Yang Dao Foundation
After lunch, the brother and sister began their spiritual practice.
Chen Chunan lay flat on his bed, once again emptying his mind.
After these two days of visualization, Chen Chunan was able to see a bright moon hanging high in the sky as soon as he entered the visualization space, with a towering and upright visualized body standing on the ground below.
The visualization only showed the body, not even the clothes, let alone the face.
Previously, when Chen Chunan tried to observe the concept, he emptied his mind and the empty room became bright, with a bright moon hanging high in his mental space.
Upon careful thought, he discovered that it resonated with a poem in the *Complete Union of Exoteric and Esoteric Buddhism*: "The mnemonic verses, once memorized, are of great benefit; banish evil desires and attain coolness. With coolness comes radiant light; then one can admire the bright moon from the altar."
However, the moon hiding the jade rabbit and the sun hiding the crow have not yet been achieved.
The moon hiding the jade rabbit is an image of yin within yang, while the sun hiding the crow is an image of yang within yin.
During my last visualization practice, I eliminated evil desires, which initially stabilized the three medicines of essence, energy, and spirit.
However, to collect the medicine, the heat is not enough; at least one must be able to control the visualization body.
To gain initial control over the visualized body, one must at least have a complete physical form and complete the eye-dotting technique.
Without eyes, there is no spirit; without spirit, there is no master. How can one gather herbs? Let alone transform into a spirit.
Yin spirit, also known as consciousness spirit, can be used to introspect one's own body.
The Yellow Emperor's Inner Vision Method states: "Contemplate and focus your thoughts until you see the five internal organs as if they were hanging chimes, with the five colors clearly visible. Do not stop."
Only at this stage can one truly begin the path of internal alchemy cultivation.
Therefore, Chen Chunan still has a long way to go.
...
The secret room in the inner hall of the main house
All seven elders and the clan head of the Chen clan were seated, and the atmosphere was very solemn.
Chen Daoping looked at the clan elder with a serious expression.
"Brother Daoxuan, have you found out anything about that old dog Liu?"
The elder of the Chen clan, addressed as Brother Daoxuan, looked weathered and said, "Qing'er went to great lengths to find out that that old dog Liu Guisheng went back and took a lot of spiritual medicine. He must have suffered a backlash from his divination. It's said that he lost ten years of his lifespan."
At this point, Chen Daoxuan couldn't help but laugh.
He then added seriously, "However, we shouldn't be too optimistic. The matter must be of great importance to make this old dog willing to shorten his lifespan by ten years for divination. It's said that he declared he was going into seclusion just two days after returning, and asked people not to disturb him for a year. It seems he won't be able to use divination techniques for the time being."
Chen Daoping sighed: "So we have at least a year to deal with this?"
Chen Daoxuan said, "That's right, clan leader, isn't it...?"
Chen Daoping knew what he wanted to ask: "Since this old dog figured it out, I won't hide it from you anymore. Chen Hongxian has dual spiritual roots, at least top-grade! That's why I made her change her name, and that's why I changed my own great-granddaughter's name back to Hongxian's original name!"
The elders were immediately thrown into disarray: "What? Is this true, clan leader?"
"If it truly possesses dual spiritual roots, and of superior quality at that, let alone Foundation Establishment, even Golden Core might not be out of reach! This is the hope of my Chen clan!"
Although only six people besides the three clan elders knew about this, no one blamed Chen Daoping for only telling them today.
If they knew about such a thing, they would keep it a secret.
The fewer people who know, the less likely it is to spread.
The elder clan leader learned that the clan chief had sent his own great-granddaughter, a promising young woman, to ward off disaster.
He was deeply moved: "Clan leader, Yun Ling has suffered so much."
Chen Daoping was deeply saddened, thinking, "What's the point of talking about suffering? In every generation of my Chen clan, there has been a group of people who have made sacrifices. To be born into the Chen clan is to be prepared to sacrifice for the clan! As long as the hope of my Chen clan can be preserved, not only my great-granddaughter, but also myself, my sons, and my grandsons—none of them would not be spared!"
The seven elders remained silent.
Chen Daoping quickly composed himself and said to the three elders, "Heming, you're always reliable. You and Lao Wu Heting go to the market and buy everything on this list. Then set it up in the places we selected earlier. That old dog Liu Guisheng isn't so easy to fool. He'll find out sooner or later. We need to have a backup plan!"
The three elders looked grave. They knew the urgency of the situation; if things went wrong, the Chen clan might face annihilation.
The Chen family line must be preserved.
"Rest assured, clan leader, I will handle it perfectly."
Seeing that the three elders agreed, Chen Daoping nodded and continued, "Eldest brother, starting today, we will thoroughly purge the Liu clan and their henchmen of any remaining spies and informants! We must not be lenient. I will give you the list later. After the purge, the elders should begin organizing the younger generation to evacuate from Tianmu Mountain. The few Immortal Seedlings need to be arranged separately!"
"Understood~"
"By the way, clan leader, the clansmen have all been discussing today's events in private, haven't they?"
"What do you mean, 'is it'? Let them discuss it! I want them to know the humiliation my Chen clan has suffered today! Only then will they understand what it means to be ashamed and then strive harder!"
The two elders who raised the question nodded in agreement.
After the meeting ended, the clan elders dispersed.
In the following days, several women from the Chen family, including those from the Liu, Yun, Fang, and Lin families, who had married into the family, died suddenly from illness.
Several other members of the clan also died suddenly without apparent cause.
This has caused widespread panic within the clan, and only those with discerning eyes understand what is being done.
...
More than a month has passed in the blink of an eye.
For more than a month, Chen Chunan devoted himself to perfecting his visualization body every day and told Hongxian stories about Journey to the West.
At the same time, it is also constructing the path of internal alchemy practice.
Visualize the body as Chen Chunan spends more than a month meticulously refining the details.
Ultimately, he formed an image that was three parts similar to Chen Chunan in his previous life and seven parts similar to Chen Chunan in his present life.
We could have just finished with the finishing touches at this point.
However, Chen Chunan was unable to visualize the eyes of the Daoist for a long time.
It wasn't until today, when Chen Chunan had a sudden realization, that he began to add the finishing touch.
The first few chapters of Journey to the West, apart from the general outline, mainly focus on building a foundation and cultivating oneself.
Whether Sun Wukong was learning from a master or causing havoc in the Dragon Palace, the Underworld, and the Heavenly Palace, it was all part of a stage in which he recognized his own heart but had not yet subdued it.
Chen Chunan benefited from his experience of meditation and spiritual practice in this life, and from the awakening of his innate wisdom, which strengthened his resolve to seek the Tao.
Only then could one easily achieve visualization success. The reason why one has been unable to complete the visualization for so long is simply because one has not yet truly recognized one's own true nature.
Becoming an immortal or an ancestor is too far-fetched; establishing a sect is not Chen Chunan's ambition.
Unbound by lifespan, living as long as the heavens and as old as the earth, Chen Chunan's ideal is to roam freely between heaven and earth, traveling the East Sea in the morning and resting in Cangwu at night, riding the wind on a sword.
The essence of Taoist cultivation is cultivating one's nature and destiny. As for demon-subduing techniques and immortal supernatural powers, they are merely byproducts of the process of cultivating both nature and destiny.
Just like the promising young talents in the clan who are expected to reach the Foundation Establishment stage, the clan does not recommend learning more spells before stepping into the tenth level of Qi Refining.
At most, one should learn one technique that aligns with the cultivation method, with the aim of better understanding the characteristics of the technique and aiding in practice.
After all, human strength has its limits, and spiritual practice is a race against time. The more time you spend on techniques, the less time you spend on the path.
The Way is fundamental, techniques are secondary. If you abandon the fundamental and pursue the secondary, how can you achieve the Way?
Chen Chunan only realized his true nature today.
"If one does not seek the Great Way to escape delusion, how can one be a true man, even with exceptional talent?"
A hundred years of life are like sparks from a stone, a lifetime is like a bubble floating on water.
Greedy for wealth and fame, they are unaware that their appearance is dull and withered.
"Even mountains of gold cannot buy back impermanence?"
After reciting the poem, he doesn't need to do anything extra; he can simply visualize his eyes shining brightly and his spirit radiating a clear light.
His appearance also changed, transforming him into a young Taoist priest dressed in a blue Taoist robe.
At this point, the visualization of the body is complete, and the foundation for the path is initially laid.
