Chapter 42 The Gringotts Heist
Chapter 42 The Gringotts Heist
Lucas never expected his food stall to become so popular so quickly.
When he first opened his stall, he prepared enough ingredients for about sixty people to test the waters. However, it seemed that in the blink of an eye, all the raw materials were used up, and the two soup pots were completely emptied.
The money box was piled high with Nat and Sikor, and a few Galleons gleamed with a lovely light.
Lucas, beaming, waved to the still enthusiastic customers and shouted, "Thank you! Thank you all! I set up my stall here every morning at ten o'clock!"
The wizards praised the delicious food Lucas had prepared and slowly dispersed.
Then Lucas went to Gringotts and exchanged all the Natsico for Galleons, then smugly stuffed the coins into his bag.
It seems wizards, even with their magical cuisine, are quite accepting of Muggle food. By the way, after giving Tom 30% of today's earnings, is the rest enough for a trip to the restaurant in Diagon Alley? Even if not, saving up for a few more days should be enough. Magical cuisine isn't far away!
"Setting up your stall so early?" the fat witch said with a smile. "Then I'll come see what time you'll sell out tomorrow, and we can just set up our stall at that time from now on."
The skinny witch said exaggeratedly, "Kid, you're not bragging, you've stolen all our business."
Lucas knew he was joking, and that what he said wasn't entirely accurate. Whether it's a food stall or a restaurant, eateries tend to cluster together. Competition between similar products and the spillover effect from a wildly popular shop coexist, so it's hard to say whether business is good or bad in a short time.
But Lucas responded, "Don't worry, I'll adjust the menu so it doesn't clash with others."
The fat witch quickly said, "Oh dear, don't mind him, you need the money more. Besides, even if you rob us of all our business, you still have to go to school on September 1st, so it doesn't matter..."
Just then, a bearded wizard walked up, his eyes fixed on the blackboard next to the sign that read "Harry Potter highly recommends," and slammed a Galleon onto the cart.
"Give me one!"
His voice was tense and hurried, and his beard trembled as if someone was chasing him.
"I'm so sorry," Lucas said, "we're sold out, that's all for today."
"Well... that's quite a coincidence, isn't it... hahaha." The bearded man suddenly burst into a hysterical laugh. "I was planning to fill my stomach first... and you have Potter's autograph here, what a coincidence!"
Before Lucas could speak, he suddenly slapped the cart hard again and strode toward Gringotts.
What a strange, inexplicable person. Lucas frowned, suddenly realizing the Galleon was still in the car, and quickly called out, "Sir, your money!"
But the bearded wizard paid no heed and went straight into Gringotts.
Lucas had no choice but to put the money away. While chatting with the stall owners, he dismantled the counter, put the stall back into its cart state, and prepared to return to the Leaky Cauldron.
However, just moments later—
"Waaaaah—waaaah—!"
A piercing alarm made Lucas jerk up his head. Before he could react, he saw Gringotts' two massive bronze doors burst open, and the crowd surged out like a swarm of bees, a cacophony of shouts and furious goblins.
"Robbery! Someone's robbing the vault!"
"Guards! Guards!"
"Help me—"
With a loud bang, a flash of light exploded in the crowd, and several fairies were sent flying into the air like tattered rag dolls! Then a series of explosions followed, and the wizards were thrown around by the shockwaves, their blood splattering like raindrops on the bronze gate.
As soon as the wizards rushed out of Gringotts, they tried to escape by Apparition, but in the chaos, accidents happened one after another. Lucas even saw a wizard disappear in a crackling motion, leaving behind a bloody severed arm writhing on the ground.
The wizards on the street were speechless with shock at the scene. No one would have imagined that Gringotts, considered the safest bank, would suffer such a bloody robbery.
What kind of dark wizard would dare to do such a thing?
The unknown enemy is the most terrifying. Another explosion rang out, and all the wizards screamed and began to flee. Lucas heard the fat witch beside him shouting, "Run! Run!" She also tried to pull Lucas away, but the crowd swept them all away.
Lucas caught a glimpse of a green light out of the corner of his eye, and instinctively ducked down. A shattering sound rang out above him as the blackboard that read "Harry Potter Highly Recommends" along with the cart sign exploded into dust.
A somewhat familiar voice roared, "I hate Harry Potter!"
It's that big-bearded guy from earlier!
Oh no, am I being blamed? What grudge does he have against Harry Potter?
Sure enough, the bearded wizard was still not satisfied and was about to swing his wand again!
Suddenly, a beam of red light shot towards them. The bearded wizard waved his hand, and a light blue magical barrier rose up, deflecting the red light back directly.
A very young girl gasped in surprise, nearly being hit directly, but luckily she quickly straightened up, and the curse grazed past her strange violet short hair.
"I am an Auror, and you are surrounded!" she cried. "Drop your wand and surrender!"
But what responded to her was a bright green light!
"Avada Kedavra!"
The young witch fell to the ground in a sorry state, and at the same time, several stone slabs rose up in front of her, slightly deflecting the direction of the green light, thus avoiding being hit.
Then the bearded wizard roared, "You're not an Auror! You fresh-out-of-school rookie, Nymphadora Tonks!"
Tonks was taken aback. He knew me? But I don't remember anyone with that face.
Is it a compound decoction?
Her mind raced, and her hands moved with lightning speed; before she even got up, she had already cast a spell.
He collapsed to the ground, completely unconscious!
But her spells couldn't penetrate Big Beard's protective charms at all. Big Beard flicked his wand, and a burst of fire containing explosive power flashed by. With a loud bang, the cobblestones of Diagon Alley were ripped off, and Tonks was thrown away by the blast wave, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Lucas peeked out from behind the cart, watching every single moment of their fight.
This was the first time he had ever witnessed wizards fighting. Spells whistled through the air, tracing bright arcs that dazzled his eyes. Dodging, attacking, defending, exploding, life and death... His heart pounded like a drum again, his blood gushed in his ears, and a voice seemed to be shouting loudly in his mind.
He clenched his fists, his body trembling with excitement, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
This is magic, this is the world I've entered...
This is my future!
