Chapter 649 Earth 1 Saved, Emperor Clown Online Trading
time flies.
Time stands still.
Time will traverse the stars, making people tremble, and transform you into something you never thought you would become.
So when the Lantern Knight stood in the vast starry sky, gazing at the blue Earth, he thought this:
What a beautiful world!
"It's time to make a move."
The first Lantern didn't turn around. He heard Shadow Calamity's urging. Compared to the first Lantern's profound emotions, Shadow Calamity seemed more pragmatic, more impatient, or rather, setting all that aside...
His voice was full of awareness.
"I said, it's time to make a move."
Shadow Calamity appeared before the First Lantern Knight. The First Lantern Knight hesitated to turn around, so Shadow Calamity flew to him on its own.
He didn't say anything, but stood shoulder to shoulder with the first Lantern Man, gazing for a few seconds together at this critical moment at the enormous blue star radiating light in the universe.
Earth, but not their Earth.
They are in the place that feels most like home, yet they are homeless, wandering ghosts.
So many years have passed.
"Humans are the fuel for everything," said Shadow Calamity. "If they don't burn themselves out for us today, they will burn themselves out for something else someday. At worst, after we save our world, we can try to reshape it."
He told Green Lantern #1, "I've already taken care of Green Lantern on Earth 1, and the Batman and Superman in this world are too weak to be a threat."
He paused, then slowly said, "I think the time has come."
There was no response; the first Lantern Man did not say anything.
He simply looked up at the azure planet.
Shadow Calamity knew he should continue speaking; he knew exactly what he was going to say next, but even though it was the second time he had heard or spoken it, he still felt a mix of emotions.
"The world is like a vast ocean," he said.
Although he was speaking alone, it was as if he were the first Lantern Knight, reincarnated countless times, reaffirming his resolve.
That faint voice echoed across countless timelines in the hyper-time stream. No matter how many times he tried, no matter how many times he reincarnated, no matter how many more "members" from the future returned from the Third Legion, the resolve of the first Lantern Knight never changed.
"And to survive this sea of suffering, we don't just have to learn to swim," he said. "You also have to learn to watch others sink. Don't pity them, or that will drag you down."
Have you ever thought about...?
Then he heard what the first Lantern Man said.
"Have you ever thought about the possibility that we may never be able to save our world, and that no matter how hard we try, we are just like Sisyphus pushing a boulder?"
We have unhesitatingly caused so much killing, robbing billions of lives of their free will. But is it possible that all of this is meaningless, and that what we have done is merely a predetermined failure beyond the flow of time?
"Is there another possibility—that we could destroy this Earth before us, that we could so easily reduce it to ashes, just as easily as our world was once annihilated?"
As the first Lantern Man said, although he and Shadow Calamity proposed to harvest all the emotional energy of all life on this earth, they would still need some time to actually do it.
He was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice.
"But I will never give up, and I can never give up. No matter what, I'm still trying, just like time keeps flowing."
He turned to look at Shadow Calamity: "But the night is always long. What I'm doing has no success or failure, only life or death."
He has made up his mind; once the first Lantern Knight decides to do something, he will not hesitate again.
He stretched out his palm towards the Earth, spreading all five fingers. Beside him, the spaceship hummed, and at the bottom of the cabin, a huge furnace emitted a white light.
The fabricated history of Earth's destruction is about to solidify like cement, inevitably settling on the super-timeline.
But at that very moment, just as the first Lantern Warrior was about to take action, the furnace suddenly emitted a loud bang and then completely stopped operating.
"What's going on?"
The first Lantern Knight turned to look at Shadow Calamity, who also seemed completely bewildered. He said, "It's probably because the mechanical components we manufactured aren't new enough. I'll go and repair them."
He said that, and then immediately afterward, there was another loud bang, and the lamp furnace emitted a somewhat dangerous buzzing sound.
Shadow Calamity appeared in front of the huge furnace almost immediately. He quickly spread out onto the control panel and operated it for a long time, but still couldn't figure out what was going on.
Of course he couldn't figure it out; they were all the same person, so there was no way to break their strategy.
The members of the Third Legion are the ones who know the First Lantern the most. Some of their mental traps are tailor-made for the First Lantern. There is nothing more sinister than this.
"I'll be able to solve this problem soon." Shadow Calamity didn't believe him and wanted to try his luck by solving all the problems with the item at once, but he soon realized that he simply couldn't do it.
After wasting a considerable amount of time, he finally ran out of time to waste, because the first Genie brought him some very bad news:
Parallax Morhal has begun to formally attempt to break free from the constraints of the Hypertime Stream, with Batman Dragon using 29% of the fifth-dimensional energy of the Bat Mite as a rope to pull him off the Hypertime Stream.
The fifth-dimensional divine power naturally possesses the ability to freely traverse the hypertime stream. As the opponent struggles through these divine powers, its struggles naturally intensify. Furthermore, Parallax Morhal had already descended from the hypertime stream once, only to be sent back by Barbatos.
Once a nail has been pulled out once, it's only a matter of time before it's pulled out a second time, and even faster.
"We don't have time." Due to the interference of the Third Legion members, the First Lantern simply didn't have the time to wait for Shadow Calamity to repair the equipment and then spend a lot of time slowly absorbing all the energy in the universe. Therefore, he was forced to put the idea aside for the time being.
"Even without the support of the entire universe's emotional spectrum energy, I have recovered enough power to try and attack the opponent."
The first Lantern was forced to make a decision: "The plan to absorb the energy of the emotional spectrum is temporarily suspended."
The moment he made this decision, countless timelines that had been vaguely visible on the hyper-time stream finally seemed to be liberated and scattered like stars in the sky.
Fate often changes at such moments, which may sound funny, but it is true.
This is the path to survival for Earth-1, and the path that changed history...
Turning point.
……
……
……
The killing machine doesn't like the Emperor Joker.
This dislike stemmed from the other person's smile, which looked exactly like the Batman Who Laughs. The killing machine instinctively disliked it.
He is now the leader of the Dark Knights, but he only obtained this position after the Batman Who Laughs was imprisoned by Barbatos.
He never competed with the Bat of Laughter; he simply outlived him. Knowing this, he rejected everything related to laughter.
But now he has to face the Emperor Jester, because it is Barbatos’s order to him, so his own preferences are not important, and his likes and dislikes cannot supersede Barbatos’s will.
So at this moment, he humbly bowed his head before the Emperor Jester: "Your Excellency."
The Emperor Clown barely acknowledged him, snorted, and said, "Did Barbatos send you?"
At this moment, the Killing Machine and the Emperor Joker appeared in an alternate dimension protected by spatial turbulence. At the end of the Zero Hour, Parallax Morhal had almost destroyed the entire universe, so they naturally didn't have a decent place to go.
"I have escaped Parallax Mohal's attack. Although we are still in the Zero Hour, I am fully capable of taking some time to accumulate some power and then truly break free from the constraints of the Hypertime Flow."
The Emperor Clown said, "In this situation, if I were to come and help Barbatos, and we were caught by Parallax Morhal, Barbatos, you'd be far away while I'd be right here. Wouldn't I be a complete fool?"
He seems to be haggling, which is the most absurd thing of all; the Joker never haggles. They only get what they want, but it's clear that the Killing Machine doesn't like the Batman Who Laughs, doesn't understand the Joker, and has even lost his experience dealing with the Joker from his Batman days.
"You can just tell me how I can get your help," Killing Machine said. "My boss, Barbatos, would be happy to pay the price to deliver a fatal blow to Batman."
"My God, man, I wish I had something. I mean, look at me, I'm a clown with fifth-dimensional powers, and I'm no longer bound by the trans-time flow. I wish I could have something, honestly, I really do."
But clearly, the Emperor Joker's ramblings were not what the killing machine wanted to hear.
"Don't you want Batman Dragon to die?" Killing Machine seemed to be trying to organize his thoughts, following the general idea Barbatos had given him, but he was quickly interrupted by the Emperor Joker:
"Let's be clear. It's impossible for me to help you launch a sneak attack on Parallax Morhal at the most dangerous time, at midnight, just because of a promise of an alliance, even if it's extremely weakened due to traversing the hypertime stream. Therefore, I need a commitment."
"A promise? What promise?"
"The killing machine asked."
"I need Barbatos to extend a claw himself, enough power that I can control," he said. "I need you, Barbatos, to participate personally, to help me before I did to Parallax Morhal. Otherwise, I won't help you in the slightest, understand?"
The Emperor Joker said, "If you want me to make a move, you have to make a move first. There's absolutely no reason to use me as cannon fodder."
He said, "Of course, you'll have to give me something in return. I promise I won't go back on my word."
"You want my energy?"
The Killing Machine's voice changed; its once mechanical tone was replaced by a deep growl. The Killing Machine had completely lost the most basic intelligence and ability to perform as a Bruce. Therefore, Barbatos was forced to take matters into his own hands.
He turned his head and stared intently into the Emperor Joker's cunning eyes through the eyes of the killing machine.
"I have absolutely no ability to retaliate against you," Barbatos said slowly. "If you obtain my energy and then shirk your duties, or simply ignore me altogether, I cannot possibly use the trans-time flow to travel thousands of miles to cause you trouble."
He looked the Emperor Joker up and down: "And in some ways, my attitude is similar to Batman's. You're the Joker, you're too unpredictable. You might change your mind for some random, illogical reason, like suddenly farting or wanting pizza. You ask for too much but offer too little. If that's your attitude, I don't think there's any point in continuing our cooperation."
"Then let's not continue," said the Emperor Clown. "Don't keep me from finding other fun things."
He impatiently waved his hand at the killing machine: "Get lost."
Barbatos remained silent. People often have this mentality: they want to negotiate. If your threats are ineffective and you are rejected without hesitation, it can slightly arouse an impulse in you to try to drive the other party.
"All right."
Finally, Barbatos relented: "You can have my power, but only if you act together with me, not if I strike first."
Barbatos said, "I'll make the first move, and you just need to follow behind."
He said, "How about I bestow upon you some of my dark energy beforehand, some harmless dark energy that is not mixed with my free will?"
"A pleasant transaction," the Emperor Clown hurriedly said. "It's settled then."
Barbatos nodded slightly, observing the Emperor Joker's spirited demeanor. He was right; deep down, the Emperor Joker harbored a grudge against Batman Dragon. Otherwise, he wouldn't be so proactive in dealing with him. He simply needed a reward, a reasonable request.
As for just how insane the other party really is, Barbatos believes he understands the Joker, who always prioritizes harming Batman.
At least on the issue of harming Batman, Barbatos and the Joker are completely aligned.
Although the Emperor Joker was beaten like a punching bag by Parallax Mohal before, it doesn't mean he's not strong.
Completely blocking HAL from leaving the hypertime stream and traveling to the current timeline of the universe serves the interests of both of them.
