Chapter 72 Senior, are you a wizard?
Chapter 72 Senior, are you a wizard?
Everyone immediately followed, their steps unconsciously becoming lighter.
"The manor is a bit far from town."
Wang Yueling began to introduce the place casually, "But it has everything here: a farm, a warehouse, a sports field, everything you could need."
Liu looked around at the meticulously maintained courtyard and couldn't help but ask, "Such a large estate must take a lot of effort to maintain, right?"
"There are people specifically in charge," Wang Yueling said casually. "I don't come here often, I only come in the summer to escape the heat."
Kirihara walked in the middle of the group, turning his head left and right, extremely busy.
He saw a stone well in the corner of the courtyard, ran over and peeked inside, then ran back. He saw a wind chime hanging under the eaves, ran over and flicked it, making a tinkling sound.
Sanada frowned, about to reprimand him.
Seeing that things were not going well, Mochizuki Ryou spoke up to help the seaweed out of the predicament: "That wind chime is also from the Edo period. The bell is made of gilded bronze and is very sturdy. You can't pull it off."
Even though Kirihara heard him say that, he still pulled his hand back as if he had been electrocuted.
Marui laughed out loud from behind, blew a bubble, and popped it.
As they spoke, the group entered the main house through the front door.
Upon entering, everyone's gaze was immediately drawn to the object in the center of the main hall, and they couldn't look away.
A set of jet-black, gleaming samurai armor sat quietly on a solid wood base. The armor was jet black, the gold lacquer patterns on the torso still shimmered, and the front of the helmet featured a ferocious tiger with bared fangs.
A knife was placed next to the armor.
The scabbard is simple and unadorned, the hilt is wrapped with dark blue thread, the blade faintly gleams with a cold light, and the end of the scabbard is inlaid with a bronze chrysanthemum pattern.
"The Famous Sword... Autumn Frost".
Sanada's breath hitched, and a burning light appeared in his usually serious eyes. He took an involuntary half-step forward, staring intently at the sword.
Hiyoshi's reaction was similar.
He leaned forward, his eyes filled with the shock of seeing the real thing. His hands were already clenched unconsciously, probably an instinctive reaction for someone from an ancient martial arts school when seeing a famous sword.
Yagyu adjusted his glasses, a hint of amazement on his elegant face: "This is... an antique sword?"
Renwang whistled, his fox-like eyes crinkling into a smile: "Impressive, Ling, you have quite a collection."
Atobe Keigo stood to the side, a hint of admiration flashing in his icy blue eyes. As the heir to a powerful family, he could naturally tell at a glance the value of the armor and sword—they were no ordinary items.
Seeing the way everyone was so engrossed, especially Sanada and Hiyoshi who practically had their eyes glued to the sword, Mochizuki Ryou chuckled.
"You have a good eye."
"This is indeed a famous sword... Autumn Frost."
"An ancient sword from the Kamakura period, collected by my maternal grandfather."
He walked over to the armor and casually patted its shoulder, his gesture so casual it didn't seem like he was touching a centuries-old antique. "He acquired it from an old family that was on the verge of bankruptcy. The scabbard was almost rotten back then, and it was only after being repaired that it looks like this."
He then pointed to the armor, "This set of samurai armor is said to be a 'Jinbaori Guzu' of a certain daimyo, but my maternal grandfather couldn't find out which daimyo it was."
"Anyway, it looks pretty cool here."
Kirihara stared at the armor for about three seconds, quickly glanced at Vice-Captain Sanada, and then turned to Mochizuki Ryo, asking, "Senpai, is this armor wearable?"
"No, it's too old."
Mochizuki Ryou guessed his little scheme. Leaning against a pillar with her hands in her pockets, she casually concluded, "Akaya, don't even think about it. Even if you wore it, you still couldn't beat Sanada."
Kirihara's face fell instantly.
Sanada's hat brim twitched slightly. From the side, one could see that the corners of his mouth seemed to be pursed even tighter. He stood two steps away from the sword, looking at it with a very upright posture, his voice several decibels deeper than usual: "This sword... possesses extraordinary aura."
"You like it?" Mochizuki Ryo raised an eyebrow. "If you behave well during the training camp, I can let you experience it for yourself."
Sanada looked up abruptly, his eyes filled with surprise, yet he maintained his serious demeanor: "...Thank you."
Hiyoshi Wakaya watched longingly, and Mochizuki Ryo added with a smile, "You too."
Hiyoshi immediately bowed and said, "Thank you, Mochizuki-senpai!"
Wang Yueling clapped her hands, glanced at the curious looks on everyone's faces, and said with a smile in a soft voice, "There are many antiques in the house collected by my maternal grandfather. Porcelain, calligraphy and paintings, as well as some tea sets and sword parts. You can look around as you like for the rest of the week, but please be mindful of what you do with your belongings."
He held up a finger, a smirk playing on his lips, revealing his little fang, and said in a cheerful, teasing tone, "Whoever breaks this will be kept on the estate to work as collateral for their debt."
"Perfect timing! The peaches in the orchard haven't been picked yet this year, and we're short-handed..."
Cilang subconsciously withdrew his hand from a celadon vase next to him.
Xiang Ri also shrank back a little, even though he hadn't touched anything at all.
"But then again..."
Wang Yueling abruptly changed the subject, his expression instantly transforming back into that of a gentle, noble young man. "If any of you are interested in any of these items, I can tell you their history. These old objects are just sitting there anyway; my grandfather would be happy if someone appreciated them."
Renji Liu was already scanning the room's furnishings with his eyes, his brown eyes slightly open, and his pen was quickly scribbling something in his notebook.
Renji leaned closer to him and asked in a low voice, "Renji, are you calculating how much these artifacts are worth?"
Liu paused for a moment.
"No. I'm calculating the chronological distribution of these artifacts."
"Puri~ Do you think I'd believe that?"
"Data doesn't lie."
"You made up all the data yourself."
Liu did not refute, because he was indeed estimating the value.
Kirihara's interest in the samurai armor lasted for about three seconds before his attention was drawn away by a strong aroma wafting in from outside the window.
"What does it taste like?" He sniffed. "Sweet?"
Wang Yueling chuckled, watching him sniff around with his nose, and led the group further in. Along the way, there were antique calligraphy and paintings, and exquisite ceramic ornaments, each exuding a sense of history, making it a feast for the eyes.
"The houses are all row houses."
Wang Yueling explained, "Everyone will feel very comfortable and not cramped here. There's a mountain to the side and behind us, not very high. If you're quick, you can reach the top in three hours. We can use this week for physical training."
Xiang Ri's eyes lit up: "Mountain climbing training? Sounds good!"
"Don't be too happy yet." Wang Yueling glanced at him sideways. "If you're exhausted and cry later, I won't feel sorry for you."
Xiang Ri's face immediately fell, but he still stubbornly snorted.
Wang Yueling pushed open the side door and led everyone through the corridor to the back of the courtyard.
Suddenly, everything became clear.
The mountain behind the manor is indeed not high; it is a gently shaped hill with a gentle slope, covered with a large area of broad-leaved forest. At the foot of the mountain, a whole peach orchard spreads down the gentle slope, with thick trunks, dense canopies, and branches laden with peaches that are turning red.
The June sun shone on the peaches, giving the fuzz on their skin a faint golden hue.
Looking closer, there is a large freshwater lake directly in front of the manor. The lake water is crystal clear, and there are several clumps of reeds growing on the shore. Several swans are slowly gliding across the lake, leaving two shallow trails in their wake.
The scent of peaches in the air is incredibly strong here, mixed with the crispness of the lake water and the slightly bitter taste of pine resin.
"You can fish in that lake."
Mochizuki Ryou casually pointed, her posture relaxed and her tone calm and leisurely, "We have trout, sweetfish, and whitefish. If you're lucky, you might even catch an eel."
He withdrew his hand and pointed to the bountiful peach orchard at the foot of the mountain.
"That's the peach orchard over there... if you break anything, stay and pick the peaches."
He said in a light tone, "White Phoenix, Golden Peach... many varieties ripen in late June to July, and now is the peak season for production."
A gentle breeze carried the rich aroma of peaches, enveloping everyone.
Kirihara sniffed hard, his eyes wide open, drool almost dripping from his mouth, and even his seaweed head swayed: "It smells so good...it really is all peaches."
Marui Bunta instantly abandoned Jirou, who was clinging to him, and skipped and hopped towards the peach grove, his chewing gum no longer smelling sweet: "Wow! So many peaches! They look so delicious!"
Jiro immediately followed, his face full of agreement: "If Bunta likes it, we'll go pick some together later!"
Kuwahara smiled憨厚ly and touched his smooth head: "It feels like it will be very sweet."
Wang Yueling looked at the group of boys who were instantly attracted by the peaches, a sly glint in his eyes, and waved his hand toward the peach grove.
"That whole area is like that."
He curled his lips into a smile, his tone carrying a hint of deliberate seduction, "Once we're settled in, you can pick as many as you want to eat during your training breaks."
The little animals cheered instantly, their faces full of anticipation.
Just as everyone was engrossed in the allure of the peaches, Mochizuki Ryou's smile suddenly vanished.
His aura instantly shifted, the languidness vanishing completely, replaced by the sharpness and authority unique to a coach. His gaze swept across the entire arena, his voice clear and resonant, carrying an undeniable power.
"Everyone, assemble."
These few simple words seem to possess a magical power.
The members of Hyotei immediately sprang into action, their steps quick and orderly, their backs straight, even their breathing becoming soft.
Rikkai University was a step behind, but only a step behind.
Including Sanada and Yanagi, they almost instinctively followed the movement and quickly stood in formation.
After they came to a stop, the students from Rikkai University suddenly came to their senses.
Kirihara Akaya blinked, glancing sideways at Yanagi and King Jin beside him, both standing ramrod straight. He muttered to himself, bewildered, "Strange...this isn't our coach, why should we obey?"
Liu opened her half-closed eyes, a hint of surprise flashing in her brown eyes. Sanada frowned slightly, clearly also surprised by his own reaction.
Niou raised an eyebrow and whispered to Yagyu beside him, "Puri~ It seems the rumors were true, Ling has special abilities. No wonder he often appears in the supernatural news group."
Yagyu replied calmly, "Indeed, his abilities are extraordinary."
……
Kirihara remembered a post he had seen in the Rikkai University Gossip and Strange Tales group. He still remembered the title of that post clearly.
He opened his mouth, and then actually asked it out loud.
"Senior! Are you really a wizard?!"
The entire room fell silent for a moment.
Kirihara, oblivious to everything, became increasingly serious as he spoke, his eyes wide with astonishment. "I heard that every night you place a circle of white candles around your house, put a tennis ball in the middle, and then chant a spell. After you finish chanting, the tennis ball floats up and spins on its own."
"Then everyone at Hyotei will inexplicably faint, and you can take the opportunity to secretly give them a sleeping potion."
"That's why the people at Hyotei listen to you so much!"
