Chapter 49, Ranked #2: Fishing Rod

Chapter 49, Ranked #2: Fishing Rod

Monica has a lot to do, so Vega spends most of his time taking care of their daughter, Saint-Hemi.

Little Saint Seiya has boundless energy, driving Vega to the brink of ecstasy. Fortunately, with the help of Bana and Gwen, he was not driven mad by his daughter.

It was Gwen's birthday, and Monica chose to take a day off, so Vega took the family on a cruise on his new yacht.

Once at sea, Little Shengxi was incredibly excited. She fluttered her tiny golden wings and flew around on the surface of the water, occasionally diving curiously into the sea to race the fish and see who could swim faster.

Vega cast a protective shield around Little Saint to ensure her safety, then called Gwen and gave her Zero's watch: "Happy birthday, this is my gift."

Gwen happily accepted the watch and thanked him, saying, "Thank you, Uncle."

The watch looked incredibly high-tech, and Gwen loved it. Even though the strap seemed a bit too big, she couldn't wait to put it on her left wrist. She wanted to see how good it looked on her.

As soon as she put it on, she was surprised to find that the watch strap automatically shrank and quickly became a perfect fit for her wrist.

Gwen: "Lee, is the watch strap made using nanotechnology?"

Vega chuckled, "Heh heh, amazing, isn't it? The watch is even more amazing."

Next, Vega briefly recounted the origin of the watch, information about the Spider-Man Alliance, and some information he knew about Spider-Men and other Gwens from other universes.

"Huh?!" Gwen was stunned by what Vega said. Spider-Man has an alliance? Even cats, ducks, dogs, and dinosaurs can become Spider-Man?

If Gwen hadn't known it wasn't April Fool's Day, she would have thought Uncle Lee was playing a joke on her.

"Hehe~." Little Shengxi emerged from underwater, her tiny hands holding a herring bigger than herself, and she flapped her little wings as she flew toward Vega.

"Oh, my sweetheart, you're so great, muah!" Vega reached out and hugged little Shengxi, kissing her on the cheek and praising, "My sweetheart, you're so great! Is this fish a gift for Daddy?"

"Aaaaah..." Little Shengxi babbled in a language no one could understand. Gwen reached out to take the fish to the kitchen, but was met with a cold refusal from Little Shengxi.

Little Saint Xi struggled to handle the big fish. Vega didn't know what his daughter wanted to do, but he still reached out a hand to help her.

As a result, when the fish was turned around so that its head was down and its tail was up, Xiao Shengxi actually pressed the fish's body against Vega's chest, letting the big fish's tail lash her father's face again and again.

Little Shengxi: "Ah, hehehe~ (*^▽^*)"

"You little rascal, looks like you want another beating." Vega pretended to be angry and was about to take his daughter to the kitchen to find Monica to discipline her.

After walking a few steps, Vega turned back to Gwen and said, "You can verify for yourself whether it's true or not, but there's one thing I hope you'll remember."

Individuals from different universes are not truly one person in the same sense. Furthermore, without thorough investigation, one should not blindly judge a person's character based on preconceived notions.

Gwen suppressed a laugh and earnestly assured him, "I understand, Uncle Li."

Vega: "Yeah, when you go to other universes, remember to take Bana with you. I know you guys have been cooped up for months, so go out and relax. Be careful, and make sure you're back before 6 p.m. tonight."

"Got it." Gwen said, and then ran off to find Bana, who was fishing at the bow of the boat.

Vega: "Honey, come see what our daughter is doing!"

Vega started shouting loudly from a distance, and Monica, thinking something had happened, quickly came out with a wooden spatula in her hand while she was cooking.

"What, pfft, hahaha~..." Monica was amused after just one glance: "Hahaha~, what are you guys doing?"

Vega: "What's so funny? Hurry up and come save me!"

"Aaaah!" Upon seeing her mother, Xiao Shengxi released the fish and stretched out her arms, trying to get her mother to hug her.

"You little rascals, you deserve a spanking." Monica stopped laughing and walked over, gently patting Xiao Shengxi's little bottom twice, kissing each of them on the cheek, then picking up the fish that had fallen on the ground and starting to shoo them away: "I still need to prepare lunch. It's too smoky here, you two go play somewhere else."

Little Shengxi pouted angrily, "Ugh, ugh."

Vega: "No need to prepare anything for Gwen and the other two, they've gone out to play."

Monica asked in surprise, "Did they go out on a jet ski? I didn't hear a sound."

Vega: "I just gave that watch to Gwen as a birthday present."

Monica: "Oh, I see."

Monica didn't react much; she knew about the magical watch and had no objection to giving it to Gwen.

Her husband had told her that there might be a problem if he handled the watch, but Gwen, who was Spider-Man, had no issues with it.

She didn't understand what the potential dangers were, but she believed her husband wouldn't harm Gwen, whom he treated like a daughter.

Vega: "Honey, could you please chop this fish that dared to slap me into pieces and fry it? I'm going to give my daughter a bath and change her clothes."

"Hehe, okay, I'll make soup from the fish bones for you." Monica smiled and went back to the kitchen with her husband, while Vega carried little Shengxi, who was squirming and throwing a tantrum and insisting on being held by her mother, towards the bathroom in the master bedroom.

It took Vega a long time to bathe the restless little Shengxi. To prevent Shengxi from catching another fish to slap him, Vega carried the little girl around the yacht.

This flybridge yacht looks exactly the same as the one that was sunk by the bomb, and its size and layout are also identical.

Vega doesn't care much about material enjoyment; on the contrary, he's quite nostalgic, and familiar surroundings make him feel more relaxed and comfortable.

Of course, it only looks the same. This yacht was made by Vega with the help of dwarves, using a lot of precious and extraordinary materials, after he obtained detailed blueprints from the manufacturer.

Why make it so complicated?

Because Vega spent a lot of money to buy a collector's item fishing rod.

This fishing rod is quite remarkable; its owner, Gregorio Fuentes, once used it to catch a 636-kilogram Atlantic blue marlin!

This is the second-highest recorded fishing rod in the world, officially certified by IGFA. Although it is one place lower than the rod that caught a 1208-kilogram great white shark, this rod is worth hundreds of times more!

Why is it so much more expensive?

You've all read Ernest Miller Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea," right? This novel is based on the true story of Gregorio Fuentes catching that 636-kilogram Atlantic blue marlin!
