Chapter 60 Zombie World - 5

Chapter 60 Zombie World - 5

The secret technique arrow, once released, was a deadly threat to Hawkeye, but Vega merely glanced at it, and the arrow was frozen in mid-air.

Hawkeye, who was in a state of high tension, did not notice this. He quickly ran to the little girl, Amy North, who was still crying, reached out and hugged her in his arms, and continued to run at full speed away.

After running more than 200 meters, no explosion occurred. Hawkeye sensed something was wrong, but his survival instinct made him keep running forward.

Kamala Khan and the other two, along with Stellan Nolan, didn't react at first. When they realized what was happening and tried to dodge, they were all stunned by the sight of the secret technique arrow frozen in mid-air. They were filled with lingering fear and forgot to remind Hawkeye that the danger had passed.

Seeing that Hawkeye's figure was about to disappear into the darkness, Vega, who had been watching the show, called out to remind him, "Don't run anymore, the danger is over."

Hawkeye ran a few dozen meters further, and seeing that no explosion had occurred, he returned with a dark expression.

After returning, he shoved the little girl into Kamala Khan's arms, grabbed his disciple Kate Bishop by the collar, and began to berate her: "How many times have I taught you! An archer must remain absolutely calm no matter what the situation! Did you ignore me?!"

Hawkeye was trembling with rage. How humiliating! So humiliating!

Kate Bishop turned pale with fright. She shrank back and whispered, "Teacher, this, this isn't my fault. It's just that turning zombies back into normal people is really, really..."

Hawkeye: "What do you mean 'too much'?! I think you just really want to do extra training!"

Vega stepped forward to mediate: "Alright, alright, we can't entirely blame the child. A few words are enough."

He was merely observing; every world is different, and he couldn't rely on preconceived notions to confirm that Hawkeye in this world was a kind and upright person. The unexpectedly out-of-control secret technique arrow helped him test Hawkeye's true nature, which was a good thing for him.

Hawkeye's own strength is not enough to hurt him, but if he were to backstab him at a crucial moment, he would be in trouble, wouldn't he?

"She..." Hawkeye started to say something, but Kate Bishop suddenly hugged him tightly: "Teacher, I missed you so much!"

As she spoke, Kate Bishop started to cry, and the crying got worse and worse.

For more than five years since the zombie crisis broke out, she had not shed a single tear, but now that her long-lost teacher had returned, she could no longer control herself, and a flood of emotions, including grievance, fear, longing, and joy, welled up in her heart.

"Oh, it's alright, the world will be back to normal soon." Hawkeye sighed, tenderly stroking his disciple's long hair to comfort her.

Lily Williams and Kamala Khan, witnessing this touching scene, felt their noses tingle and began to shed tears. They also longed to rush into the arms of their loved ones and cry.

A few minutes later, everyone sat down in the villa's dining room and briefly explained their situations to each other.

After the zombie outbreak, Kate Bishop and her two companions never separated. They spent most of their time at home, and when they ran out of food, they would go to the nearest city together to search for it.

After returning from Manhattan today, Lily Williams cracked part of the signal transmitter's information. After learning that this thing could potentially end the disaster that had lasted for more than five years, the three decided to send it to the S.H.I.E.L.D. base in Ohio.

"What should we do now?" Kate Bishop asked Vega after explaining the situation, and everyone else looked at him as well.

Vega: "It's hard to say whether the Nova Corps will help. Even if they do, they'll only be able to take away the survivors, which isn't very meaningful."

Hawkeye: "Can you really restore the Earth to its pre-virus state, bring all the zombies back to normal, and revive everyone who died?"

Vega: "Yes, but we need to eliminate strong sources of interference."

"Nolan, how many zombies as powerful as the Scarlet Witch are left? Are there any powerful superhumans who haven't been infected?"

Stellan Nolan: "Besides Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel is another powerful superhuman infected."

Vega exclaimed in surprise, "She was infected too?"

Even the amazing old lady got infected; it seems the quantum virus is truly terrifying.

Stellan Nolan nodded: "Yes, Igoris stopped her in the mountains of Ohio, and the two of them have been fighting there for almost five years. They've almost destroyed the mountains."

"Who is Igris?" Vega frowned; the name was unfamiliar.

Hawkeye: "Igoris is an eternity, and his abilities are very similar to Superman's in DC Comics."

"The Eternals, I know." Vega gestured for Stellan Nolan to continue. He knew about the few Eternals the Celestials left on Earth, but they were very low-key, and he had never dealt with them.

Currently, only these two are known to be the most powerful zombies; almost all other superhumans who became zombies are controlled by the Scarlet Witch.

By the way, five years ago, a very terrifying alien tried to invade Earth. He possessed several gems on par with the Mind Stone. He was infected and turned into a zombie, and many people died fighting him.

"Black Panther sacrificed himself to push him into the Wakanda energy core, but then a terrible energy explosion occurred."

The explosion engulfed the entire Earth, turning countless ordinary people into zombies. Simultaneously, all ground-based technology and satellites in orbit were damaged, and governments worldwide collapsed at that moment.

"Thanos?!" Vega stood up in surprise, then asked urgently, "Are you sure he's dead?"

Vega couldn't help but be surprised. Thanos was a top-tier Celestial-level powerhouse. Even if his intelligence dropped drastically when he turned into a zombie, he was still not so easy to deal with, not to mention that he possessed several Infinity Stones!

Hawkeye: "Do you know that alien invader?"

Vega ignored him and continued staring at Stellan Nolan. Stellan Nolan felt uneasy under his gaze and quickly shook his head, saying, "I'm not sure. S.H.I.E.L.D. also suffered heavy losses in that explosion. Afterwards, we sent people to Africa many times to try to investigate the situation in Wakanda, but all of them failed."

Vega: "What were the reasons for the failure?"

Stellan Nolan: "The Scarlet Witch has taken control of all the zombies in Wakanda and the African continent. The agents we sent there were all killed by her minions."

Vega: "How much do you know about the situation in Africa right now?"

Stellan Nolan gave a wry smile: "That's all we know. The Scarlet Witch has been sending her minions to attack us."

After the energy explosion, we had 47 bases, but now only three remain. We can't even protect ourselves, let alone explore the outside world.

"Let's continue with the introduction of powerful zombies and uninfected superhumans." Vega sighed. It's truly remarkable that S.H.I.E.L.D. has been able to sustain itself for so many years.
