Chapter 41 It's all the cell phone's fault

Li Wei angrily said, "It's because of your kind of thinking that they act lawlessly. I don't believe they can bypass the law and do whatever they want. No one can cover up the Party's rule."

Wang Fuyou was furious: "Brother Wei, how can you be so naive? If you don't run now, don't blame me if you get beaten up and lose money. I'll take the blame for your bad luck, and you're not only ungrateful, but you're also trying to lecture me? Are you stupid?"

"Yes, maybe I really am stupid, but I absolutely believe that the law is just."

"You idiot! The law may be fair, but those who enforce it may not be."

Li Wei glanced at Wang Fuyou: "Even someone as uneducated as me knows that the law deserves respect. Those who enforce it are all highly qualified and educated individuals, aren't they a hundred times better than me?"

"Alright, alright," Wang Fuyou said with a wry smile, looking at the large group of security guards running towards them from afar. "You can't run now, you're just waiting to get beaten up!"

Li Wei shouted, "I told you to call the police! Hurry up, or you'll miss your chance if a fight breaks out."

"Oh, okay, okay, call the police." Wang Fuyou was also terrified. He frantically pulled out his broken phone from the car and pressed the buttons. He didn't know if the phone had been kicked and broken or what, but the screen didn't respond. Just as Wang Fuyou was about to figure out how to turn it on, Li Wei kicked him into the office.

Li Wei's low growl rang in her ears: "Are you blind? There's a phone on the table! Call the police!"

Wang Fuyou hurriedly and nervously dialed the police.

Li Wei stood at the door, holding a rubber baton and coldly staring at the security guards who had gathered around. He shouted, "We've already called the police. Anyone who dares to lay a hand on us will face the consequences."

A henchman hiding in the back shouted, "Ignore him! Beat him up before the police arrive. Our boss has connections, so we're not afraid."

Why are there people like this everywhere? Do you think you can call the shots if things really get out of hand? Instead of trying to solve the boss's problems, you're probably just afraid that if things get small, the boss will have too much money to spend!

Seeing a group of security guards about to rush over, Li Wei shouted into the office, "Old Wang, come and hold the door shut! I don't care if they go in and beat you up, I'm running away first!"

The henchman shouted, "Don't let him get away! The guy inside can't escape. Grab him now!"

Li Wei sneered, "You really think I'm going to run away? I'm just trying to distract them by capturing the leader first."

Thinking of this, he dashed left and right across the open space, and the security guards quickly scattered to block him.

Li Wei brandished his rubber baton and charged around relentlessly, soon wandering over to the vicinity of the minor leader.

This guy stood with one hand on his hip, yelling that his men were all good-for-nothings and that a whole group of them couldn't catch a single one.

Suddenly, Li Wei turned around and rushed over, grabbed the guy by the collar, and swung the rubber baton at a security guard who was chasing after him. He then snatched the walkie-talkie that the guy had wrapped with thick insulating tape, raised it, and shouted, "Make them stop if you don't want your head to crack open!"

The guy was defiant and struggled desperately, shouting repeatedly, "Come on, beat him to death! The boss will take responsibility if anything happens!"

Li Wei was amused and annoyed, then smacked him on the head with a pair of walkie-talkies: "Are you fucking out of your mind? You make your boss take the blame for everything. If you really killed me, your boss would definitely say he didn't know or understood, and then hand you over to pay for it with his life. Have you lived this long just to get shot?"

Hmm! It feels good to tap; the walkie-talkie is as sturdy as a big brick.

The underling couldn't break free from Li Wei's hand and was hit on the head several times by Li Wei. He yelped in pain, but said defiantly, "You just wait, I'll kill you today."

These days, there are so many stubborn ducks!

The security guards gathered around, shouting at the two men who were making a ruckus: "Let go of our captain right now, or we'll beat you to death!"

"Calm down, everyone calm down, Captain, don't be afraid. Once this guy lets go of you, we'll beat him to death."

"It's illegal to assault someone, why don't we call the police?"

"I think you're asking for trouble. Do you even know what our captain's brother-in-law does? Let him go right now."

Two more sneaky security guards circled around from behind Li Wei, preparing to grab him and let the captain run away.

Li Wei had been vigilantly looking around, and some of the onlookers shouted, "Driver, watch out behind you!"

Li Wei was both amused and exasperated. This was just someone who loved to watch the drama unfold!

Li Wei turned around and kicked his legs high in the air a few times, raising the walkie-talkie in his hand. The two security guards stopped awkwardly, grinned, and took a few steps back.

The foreman's face flushed red: "I don't believe you dare kill me! You bunch of good-for-nothings, come at me all at once!"

The onlookers, not minding the chaos, commented: "I think you've reached the end of your job as captain. With so many people watching, you still want to kill someone."

"Is this child not very bright?"

"Hit him! Hit him! This driver's got some skills, he kicks really high! He's obviously stretched. Let's fight him a bit longer and see."

"Yeah! It's been so long since we've seen a fight."

"The driver is really strong; he can grab this kid with one hand, and he can barely breathe."

The security guards got angry: "Get out! We're enforcing the law, what are you watching?"

"Anyone not authorized to leave immediately."

The onlookers immediately protested: "What kind of law enforcement are you? Do you even have law enforcement authority?"

"Exactly, we saw it. If you're so capable, why don't you try it yourself?"

"What's wrong with me standing on my own turf? I've already paid the rent, and you won't let me stand here? Give me my money back."

"I'm working here, and I haven't been paid yet! If I leave, the boss won't honor his debt, so how are you going to pay me?"

The surroundings instantly turned into a bustling market, with onlookers and security guards arguing amongst themselves, and no one paying any attention to them anymore.

Li Wei smiled at the forgotten leader, loosening his grip on the leader's collar. The leader, panting heavily, looked at Li Wei, who was half a head taller than him, and threatened, "Do you know who my brother-in-law is? I'll have him kill you later."

Li Wei was very curious, so he tapped him on the head with the walkie-talkie and asked, "Who is it? Who makes you so arrogant? Tell me so I can see for myself."

"Hmph, he's the captain of the criminal investigation team. If you don't behave, I'll have him arrest you."

Li Wei breathed a sigh of relief: "You scared me half to death. I thought it was Boss Wang." (Note: Boss Wang is the real boss, the true ruler, and a powerful figure with immense influence in Langya, whose name the common people dare not mention.)

The foreman looked at Li Wei like he was an idiot: "If my sister could work for him, would I still need to be a security squad leader? I'd be as awesome as my boss by now."

"That's right. Oh, what's your brother-in-law's name?"

The squad leader looked at Li Wei warily: "Why are you asking this? Are you trying to get revenge on me?"

"When you're out in the world, why would you be afraid of people knowing your name? Your brother-in-law is so powerful, why would you be afraid of an ordinary commoner like me?"

"My brother-in-law is Liu Dagong. He's very powerful in the criminal investigation team. He's a man of his word."

Looking at Hu Lijing, who was at a loss for what to do, Li Wei said with a stern face, "Give me back my phone. If it weren't for the fact that you're a woman, I would have slapped you to death."

Hu Lijing nervously handed over her phone, which Li Wei took and tucked away. He then pulled the squad leader towards the office.

After finishing his phone call, Wang Fuyou was gripping the doorknob with both hands, staring blankly outside.

"Open the door! Are you crazy?"

"Oh!" Wang Fuyou opened the door, and Li Wei dragged the squad leader in and pushed him down onto the sofa.

Shaking her slightly sore wrist, she pointed at the guy and angrily said, "You didn't ask anything, and you just believe whatever that woman, Secretary Hu, says? If someone gets killed, can you handle it? I'll ask my friend before I talk to you."

After saying that, he took out his phone and dialed a number. When the call connected, he chuckled and said, "Hey, I heard that the criminal investigation team can now give ordinary people the authority to kill people at will? Get me some slots, I want to kill people for fun too."
