Chapter 12 The Transition of Excellent Era
Chapter 12 The Transition of Excellent Era
"Let's hand over the reins."
In the conference room of the Jia Shi Building, Cui Li was kept behind by Tao Xuan to handle his funeral arrangements.
The first item handed over was a stack of account cards, belonging to the management of the Excellent Dynasty Guild, including the guild leaders and vice-leaders of the God's Domain and eleven divisions, as well as the guild leaders of various elite groups.
These characters are still there, but the contracted players who controlled them have gone their separate ways, making these accounts inactive. Many of these accounts haven't been logged into for a month or two.
The Excellent Dynasty guild is currently completely paralyzed, with virtually no organizational capacity. Numerous elite raid groups have disbanded, and many branch guilds have lost a large number of players, leaving them almost entirely empty shells.
The situation at the Jia Dynasty headquarters is also not optimistic, with most of its staff leaving.
To revive the Excellent Dynasty guild, we need a sufficient number of signed players and a leader with enough influence, such as Ye Xiu.
However, Ye Xiu cannot return to the Excellent Dynasty Guild, so the only one qualified to take on this important task is Su Muqiu.
Su Muqiu held the guild leader's account in his hand, wanting to log in and take a look, but then put it down. The guild leader's account must have a ton of things to deal with; he'd better wait until he had more free time.
This guild leader account was Tao Xuan's first character. Back then, Excellent Era was poor and didn't have the money to recruit many employees and management. So Tao Xuan personally took charge of managing the Excellent Era guild.
Despite being called a manager, Tao Xuan was really just a background character. His main job every day was to run around the map—delivering medicine and supplies to Su Muqiu and Ye Xiu, bringing back the equipment and materials they had captured, and repairing their equipment along the way.
The second item handed over was a stack of account cards, which were used by the technical department. This included some warehouse accounts and some accounts used for testing silver-tier equipment.
Su Muqiu casually picked up a card, inserted it, logged in, and opened the warehouse. The warehouse was filled with a dazzling array of materials, a whole warehouse full of rare materials.
Log in with another card, open the warehouse, and you'll find a whole warehouse full of rare materials.
Log in to another account used for testing silver gear. It's a battle mage character with thirteen pieces of equipment, all of which are full of level 70 silver gear.
"This equipment was phased out by One Autumn Leaf and was handed over to the technical department for testing," Cui Li said.
The warehouses were filled with rare materials, ranging from level 5 to level 70. However, there weren't many level 75 rare materials. The Excellent Dynasty guild had been severely targeted by Ye Xiu this year, gaining almost nothing.
Needless to say, there's an unimaginable amount of ordinary materials. According to Cui Li, if all the ordinary materials were poured out and restored to this world on a one-to-one scale, it would be enough to submerge the Excellent Era Building.
There are hundreds of silver armor pieces, with the most for Battle Mages, enough to arm two Battle Mage characters. Priests, Gunners, Spellblades, Force Masters, Elemental Mages, Gunners, and Fist Masters also have some silver armor.
Most of the silver equipment was level 70, with a few at level 60 or 65. I didn't see a single level 75 silver item, so it must have already been sold.
After Su Muqiu finished taking stock of the materials and silverware, he finally understood just how much wealth he had acquired with the astronomical sum he had paid.
"Is this a level 70 Evil-Repelling Sword?" Su Muqiu asked.
"Yeah, the one I had as a backup back then had the exact same stats as the original," Ye Xiu replied. "But now that the original Evil-Slaying Sword is level 75, this level 70 one isn't very useful anymore."
Su Muqiu nodded, put the evil spirit back, and logged out of the account.
The third item handed over was a stack of account cards, which were used in the training camp.
The characters used in the training camp are all pretty good; although there are no silver-tier characters, there are still orange-tier sets available.
These characters also have good skill points, with most having over 5000 points, and a few even reaching 5200 or 5300 points, which is already at the professional level.
If you equip these characters properly, they'd be far from being competitive in professional leagues, but they'd be more than capable of handling challenge matches. Teams in challenge matches generally don't have many silver items, and even if they do, they're not top-tier level 75 silver gear; most are just using level 70 silver gear to fill out their rosters.
The level 75 update was released just six months ago, and the rare materials for level 75 are still incredibly expensive, far beyond the reach of teams participating in challenge matches.
The core departments of the online game club—guild, training camp, and technical department—are now reduced to just three stacks of account cards, a pile of materials, and silver equipment.
The fourth item handed over was no longer the account cards, but an extremely large number of devices.
From the training area for professional players to the massive training camp of Excellent Era, and then to the seemingly endless super hall of the Excellent Dynasty guild, Excellent Era Club has nearly a thousand computers, as well as an even larger number of external devices.
Inside the warehouse of the Excellent Era building, mice, keyboards, headsets, and login devices were densely packed together. Thousands upon thousands of devices, box after box, were neatly stacked together, none of them even opened.
Cui Li said that these devices were all donated by sponsors. They were given out every year, and they could not use them all. They piled up more and more each year.
Excellent Era Club's extravagance is among the best in the Glory circle, only slightly less than Shanghai's Samsara Club, and even stronger than rising stars like Tiny Herb and Blue Rain.
Compared to clubs like Thunder and Royal Wind, which lack financial resources, Excellent Era's extravagance is simply beyond their comprehension. Thunder's training room didn't even have ten spare machines, which Ye Xiu mocked him for, showing just how poor Thunder was.
After reviewing these four categories, Su Muqiu nodded, indicating his satisfaction: "We have enough equipment, we have the characters, and we have some gear. It's enough to make do. Now all we need are people."
Cui Li gathered the remaining staff members of the club together and introduced them to Su Muqiu.
The HR department had only one person left—the one responsible for laying off all the other staff. Once everyone else was laid off, he laid himself off.
There was only one person left in the finance department—the one in charge of distributing severance pay. Once all the staff had been laid off, he would collect his own severance pay and go home.
The legal department is down to just one person – stuck there arguing with the laid-off employees, and now they have absolutely nothing to do.
These three are all locals and weren't in a hurry to go home, so they were able to hold out until the end.
The publicity department, online game guild, and training camp are all empty, and the team only has one player left, Qiu Fei.
Everyone in the club gathered in the meeting room; there were five people in total.
After completing the handover and gathering the remaining employees, Cui Li left Excellent Era to report to Tao Xuan. Judging from his tone, he probably wouldn't return to Excellent Era. After all, he had played a part in getting rid of Ye Xiu, so there was no point in shamelessly staying.
Su Muqiu looked at the only three staff members and asked, "Do you all know how to play Honor of Kings?"
The legal representative laughed first, pointing at Ye Xiu and saying, "Boss, how could anyone from Excellent Era not know how to play Glory? Don't laugh at me, but I once fought the God of War for eight hundred rounds."
"Did we win?"
"I didn't win the first game, he didn't lose the second game, and I said it would be a draw in the third game, but he wouldn't agree."
"Hahaha……"
Everyone present, including Ye Xiu, laughed.
Almost everyone in the Excellent Era club who knows how to play Glory has either played against Ye Xiu or been defeated by him. In the early years, Ye Xiu truly treated Excellent Era like his own home, and he had no airs towards his employees at all.
"So, are you all willing to stay?" Su Muqiu asked.
Several people hesitated, and the finance girl asked, "Boss, what should I do if I stay? There's not much work left for us to do."
Su Muqiu waved his hand: "Excellent Era will definitely need to hire more people, so you guys won't be short of work in the future. For now, you can help me out, like carrying bags or something."
"Okay, we'll do as the boss says." The finance girl agreed first, and the other two stayed.
They are all locals from Hangzhou. It's not easy for them to find a high-paying job locally. If they can work well, who would want to run around everywhere?
