Chapter 21 Gwen and George, Russell and Gu 1
Chapter 21 Gwen and George, Russell and Gu 1
Earth-65, Queens, New York.
Back home, Gwen frowned.
Nobody home? George isn't home? Is he too busy with some case?
While pondering this, Gwen turned on the living room light.
There was no clutter, and the furniture was neatly arranged.
But in many places, a thin layer of dust covered the ground.
Downstairs, George sat in his car, his eyes glazed over.
He had been sitting here for a long time.
It's been like this every night since Gwen disappeared.
Huh? Why are the living room lights on?
Was there a thief in the house, or... did Gwen come back?
Drawing his sidearm as a precaution, George rang the doorbell.
"Gwen?"
George asked from outside the door, his voice filled with hope...and fear.
"father!"
The door opened, and the father and daughter embraced each other excitedly.
The time apart was not long, but the longing and worry made it seem endlessly long.
"It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back."
George's hand trembled as he patted Gwen on the back.
When Gwen first disappeared, George thought she had run away from home and was furious.
Although the father and daughter sometimes have minor conflicts, why did it have to come to this?
After the investigation, no trace of Gwen could be found.
George began to panic, fearing that Gwen was being targeted by criminals who hated him.
"Dad, I'll explain it to you slowly."
Seeing the gray hair at George's temples and the wrinkles around his eyes,
Then compare it to George, who is young and cheerful in another universe.
Gwen felt increasingly sorry for her father.
"It's a truly touching scene."
As the mirror space expanded, a voice rang out.
An old man with a white beard, exuding an air of otherworldly wisdom, slowly shifted from ethereal to tangible form.
Earth-616, the Ancient One from the main universe.
“Ancient One.” Russell bowed in greeting.
“Master Russell.” (Male version) Gu Yi smiled and returned the greeting, praising him.
"She's been talking about you a lot lately; you really are a handsome young man."
Faced with the Ancient One's praise, Russell was momentarily at a loss for words.
It's not that I'm shy, but rather that I don't know how to differentiate between different ways of addressing someone.
"Don't worry about the titles, we are all the Ancient One."
Seeing Russell's dilemma, the Ancient One explained.
"Mind reading?" Russell exclaimed in surprise.
"You can't do it? That shouldn't be the case."
Gu Yi asked a counter-question.
"I thought you were deliberately opening up because you were so unguarded."
Russell's face darkened, and he quickly composed himself.
At the same time, he fully activated his perception abilities to capture the fluctuations in Gu Yi's mind.
"See, you can do it, can't you?"
The Ancient One initially left herself unguarded, allowing Russell to read her thoughts.
Then, Russell's perception was blocked.
Russell said quietly, "Master, aren't you tired?"
Gu Yi smiled and shook his head:
"Since I left my physical body and existed as a spiritual being."
This became my instinct, like breathing.
You only feel tired when you try to control yourself from perceiving things.
You're a young person, you should take care of this old man."
Hmm, a spiritual entity?
After the Ancient One gave him a hint, Russell realized what was going on.
Upon closer inspection, although the Ancient One's body appears to be substantial, it lacks a tangible quality, being formed from pure spiritual energy.
"Master, you are?" Russell asked, puzzled.
Has he already quit and is shifting the blame to Doctor Strange?
"Just a physical body."
Gu Yi waved his hand dismissively.
"You don't understand yet. At my level, there is no difference between the spiritual body and the physical body."
The Ancient One's spiritual power flowed, and her body shifted back and forth between physical and spiritual forms.
"And one more thing, my physical body is ultimately just a mortal body."
You're different; don't be like me.
Russell recalled what the Blood God's consciousness had said a few days earlier.
Deacon Frost was of average physical ability.
When strengthened to its limit, it is equivalent to a physique of around level 40 or 50 in the extraordinary realm.
(Reference force: 4-50 tons)
"Master, is there a limit to physical enhancement?"
Gu Yi gave Russell a strange look:
"Both the body and the soul have limits."
To break through limits, one either needs a special opportunity or relies on the power of the mind.
Comparatively speaking, the power of the mind is more compatible with the soul.
Therefore, the soul is more likely to break through limits.
After saying that, the Ancient One carefully examined Russell.
"Your body, soul, and mind have now reached a state of extreme balance and are undergoing a transformation."
With such a solid foundation, you shouldn't be unaware of these things, right?
How did the other me teach you?
Russell looked at the Ancient One with an obedient expression.
Do you need to understand?
"You haven't reached your limit yet?" the Ancient One suddenly asked, realizing what was happening.
"Ah."
Russell nodded obediently, waiting for the lecture from the bigwig.
“That makes sense.” Gu Yi stroked his beard.
"You have quite a talent."
Although their individual attributes are not as strong as some races that are naturally powerful.
But its strength lies in its balance, and it has greater development potential.
He was born to be a mage.
Russell's strength and well-rounded development were not his natural talents.
Deep Blue, start!
Name: Russell (Extraordinary)
Lifespan: 25/323, 4399
[Constitution II: 100]
[Perception II: 100]
[Spirit II: 100]
Talent 1 [Energy Absorption]: Can absorb any energy and convert it into attribute points, with a default lifespan.
Talent 2 [Attribute Transfer]: [Lifespan] can be converted into [Constitution], [Perception], and [Spirit].
Note: Upgrading in progress (approximately three months remaining).
Russell's talents are [Energy Extraction] and [Attribute Transfer].
(Female version) Gu Yi should have guessed most of it.
They may not realize that absorbing energy can convert into lifespan.
Clearly, she did not tell the other Ancient Ones in the multiverse about this.
"By the way, what kind of magic have you learned?" Ancient One asked curiously.
The other woman has been showing off to him quite a bit lately.
Russell held up one finger.
"You've learned everything?"
"One."
As he spoke, a portal opened, leading directly to the outside of the mirror space.
Gu Yi remained silent, somewhat conflicted.
"Your portal research is quite good; it can bypass my mirror space blockade."
But why do you only know one spell?
Gu Yi suddenly realized.
"No, you just used your mental abilities."
In universe 1610, similar energy projection spells were also used.
Russell scratched his head: "Is this also a kind of magic? Isn't it something you can do with your hands?"
Gu Yi took a deep breath, even though a spiritual body doesn't need to breathe.
"How long have you been studying magic?"
Russell held up one finger again.
So this is how the (female) Ancient One felt at the time.
"one day?"
"Huh?" Russell asked, surprised.
"Master, how did you guess that?"
"Well, it's so-so," Gu Yi said calmly.
Stephen Strange, my most prized student.
Now, we're not familiar with each other anymore.
"The father and daughter outside are almost done talking, I'll be going now."
As Gu Yi's figure gradually dissipated, he gave one last piece of advice.
"Come to Kamar-Taj tomorrow and I'll show you a wonderful treasure."
The mirror space dissipated, and Russell did not appear directly in Gwen's house.
Instead, they leave first and then open the portal.
A moment later, they passed through the portal and appeared in the living room in a grand manner.
Russell did this on purpose.
The idea of traversing the multiverse is simply unbelievable.
No matter how Gwen explains, George won't really believe her.
He was just glad Gwen was back; he didn't want to pursue the matter for the time being.
But facts speak louder than words.
That was Russell's purpose.
