Chapter 276: Asura Prince
Chapter 276: Asura Prince
Faceless grinned beneath the mask as his eyes turned cold and vicious. The playful amusement that had dominated the battle disappeared completely, replaced by the excitement of a predator finally finding prey worth sinking its fangs into.
"Before you take that shot, I need you to understand something," he said while leaning slightly forward on the throne. "My true body is already on its way here. You only get one chance. Make sure it counts."
The Kasok lady sneered in response, her crimson eyes blazing beneath the storm of demonic energy surrounding her.
"Don’t worry," she replied confidently while tightening her grip on the bow. "I only need one shot."
Buzz!
The dark crimson storm surrounding her erupted violently. Countless streams of demonic force converged toward the bow in her hands, pouring into the string and frame like rivers feeding a single ocean. The pressure inside the cathedral multiplied several times over as a dark red arrow slowly materialized between her fingers.
The moment the arrow took shape, even the three demons standing at the edge of the battlefield felt their souls tremble.
The weapon was terrifying.
The energy condensed within it was enough to erase entire cities. Yet instead of fear, Faceless burst into laughter.
"Hahahahahaha! Hahahahahahaha!"
The sound echoed throughout the cathedral like thunder. His laughter only grew louder the stronger the arrow became.
The Kasok woman frowned. Something about his reaction felt wrong.
A man facing death should not look this excited.
A man staring down a demigod weapon should not be laughing. Yet Faceless laughed harder with every passing second.
Buzz!
Dark purple energy suddenly erupted from his body.
The aura surrounding him exploded outward before rapidly condensing. The storm twisted and compressed itself until it took the shape of a colossal fox head looming above the altar.
The apparition was enormous.
When it opened its mouth and roared, shockwaves ripped across the spirit realm.
The massive fox head swallowed the altar entirely, concealing both Faceless and the invisible Ruby from sight.
The cathedral began trembling violently as cracks spread through the spiritual landscape. The stained glass windows shattered and pillars groaned.
The air itself seemed caught between two opposing forces.
Dark crimson and dark purple collided continuously without ever touching.
Everyone present understood that the next few seconds would decide everything.
The Kasok woman narrowed her eyes, then she released the string.
"BREAK!"
Swoosh!
The arrow vanished.
The moment it left the bow, reality distorted around it, the spirit realm screamed and space folded.
The three demons watching from the sides felt every instinct inside them urging them to flee.
Then something impossible happened.
Buzz!
Time seemed to stop and the rushing energies froze. The expanding shockwaves halted as the arrow remained suspended in space.
The Kasok woman’s expression locked in place. Nothing moved except one person.
Thud.
Thud.
Thud.
The sound of footsteps echoed throughout the silent cathedral. A lone figure walked calmly through the frozen battlefield in black jacket and black jeans with his long black hair flowing behind him.
Damian’s expression remained completely indifferent as he crossed the cathedral floor. He passed directly beside the Kasok woman and briefly examined her from head to toe.
His gaze lingered for only a moment. Just enough to appreciate her beauty but not enough to care.
The woman could neither move nor react.
Damian continued forward until he reached the altar and faceless looked up at him and clone smiled.
"My calculations was a second off."
Damian scoffed and nodded. "I’m sorry to steal your thunder, but I’m quite curious to see how much I have grown."
Faceless nodded in understanding as its body dissolved into countless particles of dark purple light before flowing into Damian’s body, causing his veins to glow.
Damian casually lowered himself onto the throne, crossing one leg over the other, he rested his chin against his palm.
Only then did time resume.
Buzz!
The arrow continued forward. The Kasok woman blinked and her eyes widened instantly.
The masked man was gone and a completely different figure now occupied the throne.
"He’s here?!" she gasped.
The assassins behind her looked equally stunned.
None of them had sensed his arrival. None of them understood how he entered the battlefield.
Yet there he was..
The moment the arrow approached, Damian casually raised one hand.
HMPH!
BOOOOOOOOOM!!!
Dark crimson energy exploded across the cathedral.
The force released by the weapon expanded in every direction, threatening to consume the entire altar.
The spirit realm trembled, the floor cracked and the cathedral ceiling shattered. Entire sections of reality buckled beneath the pressure.
[Asura Physiology Activated!]
Buzz!
A colossal dark purple avatar exploded into existence behind Damian. The manifestation towered over the cathedral with three faces, six arms and each arm held a different seal.
Each face gazed upon reality with divine indifference. The moment it appeared, every demon present felt their blood freeze.
Recognition struck immediately.
"ASURA!"
The Kasok woman and the three assassins screamed in unison. Their voices carried equal parts disbelief and terror.
The giant avatar moved. One massive hand extended outward, then another and another, until the six hands simultaneously closed around the expanding mass of demonic energy.
BAM!
The entire cathedral shook fro a moment and then the pressure vanished. As though the power itself had been caught and restrained.
Silence followed as everyone stared at the dark crimson energy raging between the Asura’s palms, struggling desperately against the restraints.
Yet it could not escape or expand.
Only now did the demons get a proper look at Damian. He no longer appeared entirely human.
A third eye had opened at the center of his forehead. Each of his eyes contained three rotating pupils and his smile revealed rows of razor-sharp fangs where normal teeth should have been.
He looked less like a man and more like something ancient pretending to be one.
The trapped energy continued thrashing wildly. Dark crimson lightning exploded repeatedly from the sphere but I he Asura avatar did not move.
For nearly an entire minute, the raging power struggled against its prison. Then slowly, the energy weakened.
The violent storms diminished as ghe lightning faded. Eventually, the crimson glow lost its intensity and the last remnants of power vanished completely.
The six gigantic hands opened, revealing nothing was left inside. The demigod weapon’s attack had been erased.
The Asura avatar slowly faded afterward, dissolving into streams of dark purple mist until only Damian remained seated upon the throne.
One leg crossed over the other and one hand supporting his chin.
Looking as though nothing significant had happened.
"This power... This power is clearly beneath the demigod realm. It seems the little girl could not draw out it’s true power." Damian hissed and his eyes beamed with power.
