Chapter 121 Strange Things
Chapter 121 Strange Things
As the plane slowly ascended into the sky, the passengers were each lost in their own thoughts. Zhao Meng and Xu Ao ended their conversation and closed their eyes to rest. Huang Meng and Li Shuo sat in the front seats in front of them. Li Shuo had already fallen asleep. Huang Meng looked at him and saw that he seemed completely unconcerned about the current situation in S country, looking relaxed as if he were on vacation. She sighed inwardly and turned her head to the window. The plane had entered the stratosphere, and the sea of clouds outside the window looked incredibly dreamlike under the sunlight, like a painting by Hayao Miyazaki. Howl's Moving Castle was above the sea of clouds, far from the world. Unfortunately, they were not characters in the anime by Hayao Miyazaki, and they still had to face the harsh reality.
Huang Meng felt a headache coming on at the thought of all the problems they would face after the plane landed, so she simply stopped thinking about it, leaned her head back in her chair, and closed her eyes.
Xu Ao, who was behind him, had his eyes closed, but he had no intention of really resting. His brows were tightly furrowed. He slowly opened his eyes through his glasses. Huang Meng was swaying restlessly. He watched her fluffy hair swaying back and forth on the seat and knew that she was just as uneasy as he was.
Of the four people traveling together, apart from the two of them, the other two had never faced those mercenaries face-to-face. Although Zhao Meng knew how cruel and cold-blooded they were, they had never actually met them, not to mention Li Shuo.
Xu Ao, lost in thought, sighed heavily. Zhao Meng, who was beside him with his eyes closed, said to him, "Can you stop sighing? This isn't like you."
"Hmph, you talk as if we're close. Do you even know me?" Xu Ao said with a laugh.
"Well, I've heard Huang Meng mention it, so I know a little about it," Zhao Meng said slowly with his eyes closed.
"Oh, really? She didn't say anything bad about me, did she?" Xu Ao said, looking at Zhao Meng's profile with a playful smile.
"Hiss~ You're so smug, aren't you! You feel satisfied now that she mentioned you, don't try to trick me into talking, go to sleep!" Zhao Meng finally opened his eyes, glared at Xu Ao, and turned his head away, ignoring him.
Xu Ao smiled. Well, a little banter would ease his tension and worries. Indeed, he would deal with whatever came his way.
A hush fell over the plane. Everyone was quiet; some were resting with their eyes closed, while others were lost in thought. The plane carried them smoothly through the air, leaving faint traces in the sea of clouds. After an unknown amount of time, Huang Meng woke up. She had taken a nap and turned to look out the window. The sky had already darkened. A voice announcement came over the plane, in the familiar S language, reminding them that they were almost there. How fast! In the time it took to sleep, she had returned from the safe country of C to here.
"Ouch, I have a stiff neck, come and massage it for me." Li Shuo, who seemed not nervous or scared at all, said while pulling Huang Meng's arm.
"I have to say, you're such a handful!" Huang Meng exclaimed helplessly as she quickly offered her help.
"Because I'm so tall, this chair can't support my neck at all, it just droops. Hey, be gentle." Huang Meng pressed him down a couple of times in annoyance and then let go.
Xu Ao and Zhao Meng exchanged a glance. Xu Ao nodded to Zhao Meng, who then tugged at Huang Meng in front of him. "Huang Meng, we'll be waiting for the goods at the airport later, so we might be a little later than you." Huang Meng nodded at him; this was something she had been thinking about all along.
After the group got off the plane, Xu Ao looked at the men who were still standing there and walked towards them. "Where are you going?"
"Hehe, you don't need to worry about that, we have our own plans." Xu Ao looked at their smug smiles and felt a headache coming on. Did they even know what they were doing?
"Alright, in that case, let's exchange contact information and names." Xu Ao originally didn't want to get involved with them too much. If it weren't for the fact that they were from China, he really wouldn't want to talk to them so much.
"Um, my name is Li Dachui. The one smoking over there is our eldest brother, Lin Haisheng. You can remember the others if you want." His words made Xu Ao wary. He suddenly looked up and glanced at the men beside him. The men seemed to have the same silly, grinning expressions all the time.
Seeing that Xu Ao was staring at them and blocking his view, Li Dachui said impatiently, "Does the leader have anything else? If not, we're leaving." Without waiting for Xu Ao to speak, he beckoned to the others, who obediently followed him.
"What did he say to you?" Lin Haisheng asked calmly, his eyes hidden behind the smoke as he stared at Li Dachui.
"Hey, it's nothing, he was just asking where we were going. I wouldn't tell him, really!" Li Dachui wasn't telling the truth, and the men behind him still had the same expression.
Lin Haisheng glanced at the men, exhaled a puff of smoke, stubbed out his cigarette, glanced at Xu Ao, and said fiercely to Li Dachui, "You fucking be careful, especially those guys. Don't let that guy find out." Li Dachui followed Lin Haisheng's gaze and said disdainfully, "Hmph, bro, don't worry, they're busy with other things, they won't bother with us." Lin Haisheng gave him a deep look, punched him hard on the shoulder, and walked away. Li Dachui quickly followed with his men.
Xu Ao stared intently at Lin Haisheng and the others. He felt that something was amiss, but his mind was too preoccupied to figure it out for the time being. Once they left, he stopped watching them.
Jiang Ying and Lao Chen happened to run into Lin Haisheng and his group. Jiang Ying immediately noticed the men behind him. They looked just like the "idiot" people used to talk about in the village when she was a child, but that didn't seem very likely!
"I see him there, Xu Ao is over there!" Just as she was thinking, Old Chen's words pulled her back to reality. Jiang Ying quickly caught up with Old Chen, who was waving at Xu Ao and the others.
"What, Huang Meng?" Before Jiang Ying could finish speaking, Old Chen, just like her, was so surprised that he didn't know what to say.
