Chapter 555 554: Resistance Kingdom
Chapter 555 554: Resistance Kingdom
A few minutes before...
Layla's battlefield...
She was unlucky enough to have one of the weakest opponents. Yeah, for them, having an easy fight is terrible luck.
But then again, all the beasts weren't too strong anyway. So there wasn't much difference.
Anyway, she and her opponent looked at each other without saying anything. It seemed they were both the serious type.
BOOOOOOOM!
BOOOOOOOM!
Without a delay, they both charged forward.
ROOOOOOOOOAR!
The beast released a breath attack out of nowhere when they got closer. It was extremely hard to dodge at such a close range.
In fact, an opponent of similar strength might not be able to dodge it at all. Which was what the beast assumed Layla was.
Unfortunately, Layla was stronger... a lot stronger in fact, so she wasn't only able to react and dodge, she was able to do a lot of other things.
One of them was... Summoning her domain. It instantly covered the whole zone.
Then...
Slash!
With an ice and shadow-made obsidian blade she sliced at the beast.
It happened so fast it seemed like she only sliced once but she actually sliced countless times.
The beast's eyes widened in the darkness, then... it fell apart into who knows how many pieces, which then grew much larger as it returned to its original form.
It was dead before it could barely register what was going on. That's how big the power difference between a LR9 and a PR9 was.
Layla didn't make a sound from start to finish. Hell, she didn't even need the domain. She was just trying it out to see if she could cover the whole space.
The experiment was a success and she realised how much of a mana drainer it was. But she was certain she could keep active for 30 minutes at easy mode and 10 if she had to go all out.
After that, she collected the meat and went through the doorway to join the others.
Just like her, the other girls finished their battles within a few moves.
This was why they managed to join Althea so quickly and watch Muku's dramatic battle...
...
Outside the zone...
"It suddenly went quiet. Do you think the beasts finally finished dealing with the humans?" An orc asked its companion.
"What makes you so sure the beasts will win? In fact, shouldn't you be wishing that they lose? After all, they are our enemy" The companion replied intelligently.
"Haha. Of course, I want them to lose. But let's be honest. They had more numbers. And we all know that humans are a bit trash. Plus I fought a few of those beast bastards and know how strong they are. So my skepticism is reasonable don't you think?" The first orc replied with a silly look on its face.
"I guess you're right. But you should know not to underestimate humans. Especially those you know nothing of yet. Who knows, they might surprise us. And something about this particular group made me feel like betting against them is a mistake. But hey, we'll get the answer soon. So let's wait and see..." The second orc replied then ended the conversation by raising its hand as a doorway opened up in front of them.
Soon after, Muku followed by the girls walked out. Each one was holding a beast core in their hands. Althea was even holding two.
The spectators all went quiet for a whole minute.
None expected such a result. Some expected the humans to somehow pull a victory off using their cunning nature after starting a battle. But to completely wipe out the other side in such little time?
That was absurd!
"IMPOSSIBLE!" The beast general observing from a distance spoke angrily.
But it didn't do anything other than that. After all, it was clear that Muku's side still had a lot of mana to spare. So attacking them now without any understanding of what happened was pointless.
It might get them killed as well.
"From today on. This land we're on is called Resistance Kingdom. If anyone disagrees. Come and discuss it with my fists. I promise you that you will be extremely satisfied after the discussion. I don't know if you will still be though... As for anyone who wants to take refuge here. You're welcome. Whether it be human, elf, orc, or vampire. Hell, even peaceful beasts are welcome. As for alliances, we're only welcoming humans for now until we have a proper grasp of the other powers. However, the beasts leading this war are not welcome. For you, it's either we die or you do." Muku spoke calmly but his voice was heard everywhere by everything on the planet. He even spoke in the beast language so that everyone understood.
His words made many gasp for many reasons. From his declarations, the kingdom's name and all the information he was casually exposing.
He had not only declared that he was not part of the humans. But also that he was the leader of modern-day humans who had somehow managed to reach R9.
Those two things alone were enough to shock everyone present for days.
But on top of that, he declared war on the beasts... which was to be expected. But the fact that he was specifically targeting the higher-ups only was different. If he was fighting against beasts, shouldn't they all be on the menu?
But that wasn't it. What they didn't know was that he was just being considerate of the beasts on his team. Even if they probably wouldn't mind if he killed all the beasts he came across as they had no attachment to them at all.
It was a matter of principle for him... Anyway, not knowing that confused the spectators.
Then there was how he openly admitted wanting to ally with the humans but at the same time put the other races on notice.
He was clearly not taking them seriously. Well, at least not seriously enough to approach them with due caution as significant powers in the world.
This angered many, but intrigued many more. After all, true experts aren't so easily angered even when they feel a bit disrespected.
They first assess the situation. Especially after Muku's group took out so many beast experts so quickly.
Dealing with him was a delicate matter that no one was willing to rashly. They needed to observe a bit more and maybe test him a few times.
After all, the beasts rushed and lost 23 experts. Such a heavy loss to a finite number of experts was a heavy one. It will significantly weaken their power in all areas.
Yet, even they weren't willing to charge. So why would anyone else when at most they were slightly disrespected?
Anyway, another thing was his declaration that all were welcome. It could affect everyone else to some extent as some of their people and "slaves" might take the chance to leave.
After all, before the group's arrival, everyone had pretty much accepted their fate. But now, new hope was rekindled. Especially in the modern day humans are getting mistreated everywhere.
They weren't sure if he would be better or worse. But the fact that their origin was the same was enough to make them move and head his way.
Honestly, most didn't really care if the weaklings left. Only the vampires were significantly moved as they needed those blood banks for their people.
The expert vampires didn't need blood anymore as mana fixes all. But the R3s and below still need it while the R4s to R6s need a little every now and then to keep them sane. So yeah, Muku had really stepped on their toes.
Sure they could use beast blood like they used to. But after tasting human blood, most didn't want anything else. It was a delicacy for them while all other blood was just bland.
For that reason, their impression of Muku and his group took a turn for the worse. They weren't ready to start a war with him yet, especially when they still had to worry about beasts that were always breathing down everyone's neck. But they were definitely less willing to join hands with him now.
Hell, they were hesitant to ally with the other races despite staying out of each other's business and having fought together a few times. So what of Muku who had clearly stepped into their business?
Honestly, they just needed to increase their security a bit more to make sure that no one escapes. But why should they? They were vampires! The damned humans should feel honored to be their food... yeah, they were just as arrogant and narcissistic as elves.
The only reason elves were more prominent was that they were a little more active than vampires who rarely left their tombs unless absolutely necessary.
Of course, at that point, Muku didn't understand just what his declarations would lead to. But honestly, even if he did, he wouldn't care.
He was as arrogant as everyone present too. He was confident in his and his team's power. Hell, even if something were to happen and they couldn't win, the embryo was there.
And if that didn't work, his mother was there. Sure she was unwilling to help in most cases. But he doubted she'd let them get killed... probably.
Yeah, that's a theory he dared not test out recklessly though...
