Chapter 281 That person is absolutely reliable

Chapter 281 That person is absolutely reliable

The wind and sand continued to howl relentlessly outside the stone house, whipping up fine sand grains that danced in the air.

Chen leaned against the wall, his face so pale it was almost transparent.

He took the bag of dust flower seeds, his fingers trembling slightly.

"This is even less than last time... I won't be able to handle this..."

Chen picked up a few seeds and carefully put them into his mouth.

"This is the last time I'll come here."

Fu Gui'er's voice was calm, as if he were talking about something very ordinary, "From now on, you'll have to rely on yourself."

Chen suddenly looked up and stared into Fugui's eyes.

Those once defiant eyes are now filled with only weariness and lifelessness.

But at that moment, in the deepest part of that deathly silence, Chen saw a glimmer of resolute light.

He wasn't complaining that Fugui had abandoned him.

He understood what Fugui'er meant by saying those words.

The two remained silent for a long while.

The wind outside the stone house seemed to have lessened, yet it also seemed to have grown stronger.

The sound of sand hitting the stone wall was exceptionally clear in the silence.

After a long silence, Chen finally choked up and asked, "Are you really sure?"

Fu Gui'er took out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, took a deep drag, and then slowly exhaled.

Smoke swirled in the dim stone house, blurring his face.

"I've made up my mind," he said, his voice calm and even. "Anyway, it's no different from being dead now, is it?"

Dust smiled bitterly.

That smile was bitter and astringent, as if he had swallowed a handful of bitter herbs.

“Yes, it’s no different from being dead,” he said softly, his voice full of self-mockery. “Me too.”

He lowered his head and looked at the bag of dust flower seeds in his hand.

Chen was severely injured and could only survive on the seeds of the Dust Flower. If he could obtain a Dust Flower fruit, he would be able to fully recover.

But the fruit of the Dust Flower is rare, and he has always sought it but has not been able to obtain it.

Over the years, Chen has barely survived until now thanks to the seeds that Fugui gave him.

But the seeds will eventually run out.

After Fugui left, no one would bring him seeds anymore.

Chen knew that his days were numbered.

He raised his head and looked at Fugui'er.

"Before you leave, there's something I must tell you," Chen said softly, but with a heavy tone.

Fu Gui looked at him without saying a word, just quietly smoking.

“It’s about Qianqian,” Chen continued. “I know where she is.”

Fu Gui'er stopped moving.

His fingers, holding the cigarette, froze in mid-air; the ash fell to the ground and crumbled into powder.

"What did you say?" His voice was a little tense.

"Qianqian." Chen repeated the name, his eyes softening. "She's alright, safe for now."

Fu Gui stared at him, his eyes sharpening: "How did you know?"

Chen gave a wry smile: "I have an old friend who ran into her by chance and secretly took her away and placed her in a safe place."

"Who?" Fu Gui'er immediately pressed, "Who found her?"

Chen shook his head: "I can't say. It's not that I don't want to tell you, it's that I promised him I wouldn't reveal his identity. But you can rest assured, that person is absolutely reliable."

Fu Gui'er frowned.

He stubbed out his cigarette, threw it on the ground, and crushed it with his foot.

"How did he find Qianqian?" he asked, his voice tinged with suppressed urgency.

Chen shook his head again: "Then I don't know. But fortunately, Hui doesn't know his whereabouts, so Qianqian is temporarily safe."

These words put Fugui'er's mind at ease a little.

But only slightly.

After all, Hui is a madman; he's capable of anything.

"Where is she?" Fu Gui'er asked in a low voice.

Chen remained silent for a while, seemingly hesitant.

“Chen.” Fu Gui’er called his name, her voice carrying a rare plea, “Tell me. I must know.”

Chen looked at him, at the pain and struggle in his eyes.

Finally, he sighed.

“In the Valley of Eternal Night,” he said softly. “She is in the Valley of Eternal Night.”

Eternal Night Valley.

Fu Gui'er's heart skipped a beat.

It was an extremely remote place, located at the northernmost end of the Glacier River, covered in ice and snow all year round, and rarely visited by people.

No wonder the comet can't be found.

"The exact location?" Fu Gui'er pressed.

Chen pulled a crumpled animal hide map from his pocket and handed it to him.

“Here,” he pointed to an inconspicuous mark on the map, “there’s a cave at the bottom of the valley, the entrance covered by ice and snow, making it hard to spot. She’s there.”

Fu Gui'er took the map, examined it carefully, then folded it neatly and put it in his pocket.

"Thank you," he said sincerely.

Chen shook his head: "No need to thank me, I'm the one who dragged you down."

Fu Gui'er looked at him with a complicated expression.

“I will get her to a safe place as soon as possible,” he said firmly, “before…before I do that.”

Chen knew what he was talking about.

that matter.

Go kill the comet.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Chen asked, his voice filled with worry. "Hui's strength..."

“I know,” Fu Gui’er interrupted him, her voice calm, “but I have to do it.”

Dust fell silent.

He knew he couldn't persuade Fugui'er.

Just like Fugui couldn't persuade him.

They were all on a dead end, with no way to turn back.

"Then... be careful." That was all Chen could say in the end, his voice choked with emotion.

Fu Gui'er nodded.

He stood up, patted the dust off his clothes, and then took out a small bag from his pocket and placed it next to Chen.

“There are still some seeds here,” he said. “If we use them sparingly, they should last for a while.”

Chen looked at the bag, her eyes reddening.

"Fugui'er." He called out to Fugui'er, who had already turned to leave.

Fu Gui'er stopped in his tracks, but did not turn around.

"Live well." Chen's voice trembled.

Fu Gui'er's back stiffened for a moment.

After a long pause, he slowly said, "Okay."

Then he strode out of the stone house and disappeared into the swirling sandstorm.

Chen sat there, staring at the empty doorway for a long time.

The wind blew in through the door, carrying a biting chill.

He shivered and then came to his senses.

Looking down at the small bag beside him, he reached out and picked it up, holding it in his palm.

The bag was very light, and there weren't many seeds left inside.

But at least, it can hold on for a while longer.

enough.

He leaned against the wall and slowly stood up.

My body is very weak, and every movement feels like it's consuming the last of my life force.

But he persisted, step by step, until he reached the corner of the stone house.

There were some odds and ends piled up there, things he had collected over the years.

Some worn-out animal hides, a few flints, a rusty bone knife, and some dried herbs.

He pulled a wooden box out of the pile of junk.
