Chapter 325
Chapter 325
“I've seen a cruise ship before, it looked exactly like that photo...”“There was a woman, a pregnant woman. Who is she, and why...”
Sheng Qingyan clutched his head, beads of sweat the size of beans rolling down continuously.
“Stop thinking, stop thinking,” Rong Yu held his hand. “Those are all things of the past. It’s okay if you can’t remember. Sheng Qingyan, I told you to stop thinking!”
Bright red blood vessels crawled across Sheng Qingyan’s pupils. He grasped Rong Yu’s hand back. “What do you mean, ‘things of the past’? What past events? A-Yu, what do you know?”
Rong Yu looked at him. “Do you believe in past lives?”
Sheng Qingyan fell silent.
He did not believe in them.
But clearly, she did.
So, he found it difficult to answer.
“Perhaps those images that just appeared in your mind are experiences from a past life,” Rong Yu said slowly. “Since they belong to a previous life, there’s no need to dwell on them. It’s almost time; let’s board the plane first.”
Sheng Qingyan took a sip of water, washing away those chaotic images.
The two returned to the airport. After boarding and settling into their seats, perhaps because of the intense mental shock from the flood of sudden memories, Sheng Qingyan’s brain was extremely exhausted. He fell asleep almost as soon as he sat down.
It seemed he had a dream.
But when he woke up, he couldn’t remember anything.
It was as if something was missing.
What was missing?
The plane cut through the clouds and landed at the Capital City Airport. Due to the delay, it was already past 7 AM when they disembarked. Sheng Qingyan escorted Rong Yu to the gate of Qinghua University. It was exactly the time for classes, and students were everywhere.
“Alright, I’ll head in now,” Rong Yu said with a smile. “Oh, by the way, I heard from Ciyuan that your uncle, Sheng Yun, is getting married soon. Will you attend the wedding?”
Sheng Qingyan replied, “Not sure yet, but I’ll try to make time.”
Rong Yu waved. “Okay, then... see you.”
She turned around first and walked into the campus.
Not until her figure disappeared from sight did Sheng Qingyan take out his phone and make a call. “Ciyuan, those historical artifacts I’ve unconsciously collected over the years, which museum were they donated to?”
Sheng Ciyuan asked, puzzled, “Brother, why are you asking about that? You’re not thinking of getting them back, are you?”
“No,” Sheng Qingyan said flatly. “I want to go see them, to immerse myself in the history of that era.”
Sheng Ciyuan sent him the address.
Rong Yu had been on the plane all night and hadn’t rested much. She returned to the dormitory, slept first, and only went to class in the afternoon.
She had just finished one class when she received a message from her senior fellow apprentice, Lin Rang.
Since her senior year of high school, she had participated in three major projects at the Fourth Institute of Aerospace, all classified as national-level major projects. Qinghua’s regulations stipulated that school-level major projects could earn two credits, provincial-level five credits, and national-level ten credits. If a student was the project leader, they would receive an additional twenty percent.
A freshman was required to complete thirty-two credits.
Her senior, being considerate, had compiled all this into a Qinghua University document. She just needed to send it directly to her academic advisor.
Cheng Rui stared at this file, falling into a long half-hour of silence.
She knew that among the students of this year’s Tianxingjian class, Rong Yu was the most outstanding, but she had never imagined she was this exceptional.
She was only in her senior year of high school back then and was already participating in so many heavyweight projects?
This clearly went against regulations.
Yet, she had done it.
The data showed that Rong Yu had also been involved in a super-secret major project as the chief designer, with seals of approval from various national departments—there was no mistaking its authenticity.
Cheng Rui let out a soft breath and sent a message to Rong Yu: “I’ve approved your materials here and will submit them to the school. However, research project bonus credits are supplementary. If you can fulfill all your credit requirements solely through project rewards, it would undermine the integrity of the course system. So, I hope you still focus on solidifying your fundamental knowledge.”
Rong Yu replied: “I understand, Teacher.”
She was even thinking about what new project to start during evening study.
“You two bookworms, can you please stop burying yourselves in studying? You’re stressing me out!” Yu Kexin closed the math books of Rong Yu and Xue Yun. “Tonight’s the welcome party. Come on, let’s go watch some performances and take a break from the pressure.”
Xue Yun shrugged. “I’m not interested.”
“You’re going even if you’re not interested,” Yu Kexin said, pulling them both up. “Some people from our class are performing. At least go to support Sheng Ciyuan and Song Huai, okay?”
Rong Yu looked up. “What is Sheng Ciyuan performing?”
Was she too busy even to know that guy had signed up for a show?
“A singing act,” Yu Kexin said. “Hurry up and grab some seats; if we go late, we’ll only get back rows and won’t see anything.”
Qinghua University’s welcome party kicked off grandly on the wide sports field.
Night fell, and the sports field was dazzling with lights. The stage was surrounded by colorful neon lights, illuminating half the night sky. Students from various departments gathered in small groups, some waving glow sticks, others holding departmental flags, creating a lively and exuberant atmosphere.
By the time the three arrived hurriedly, the front rows were already packed, and even the grassy edges were filled with sitting students.
They had to find a spot at the back, spread out their coats as a seat. Although they were far from the stage, the massive high-hanging screen clearly broadcast the performances on stage, and the sound system was excellent, so it wasn’t much of a loss.
The night breeze was slightly chilly. The distant singing on stage merged with the cheers of nearby classmates, immersing the entire campus in a festive mood.
“The hosts are senior Zhai Weitong, and freshman Luo Xuan. The other two guys—one is another senior who has already advanced directly to a doctoral program—super accomplished, named Jiang Dai. The other is the newly elected top school heartthrob from the Computer Science department...” Yu Kexin paused. “Rong Yu, you’re number one on the school beauty list. Why weren’t you chosen as a host?”
Rong Yu vaguely remembered that a while back, someone claiming to be the student council president had called her, inviting her to the student council office for a chat. Her schedule was too full, so she declined.
And it was a good thing she did; otherwise, she’d have to be a host.
Hosts had to have sweet smiles and strong rapport, which were too difficult for her.
Programs came and went one by one, and soon it was Sheng Ciyuan and Song Huai’s turn. The two performed a duet.
Rong Yu was a bit surprised.
They were singing the very song she had performed for the mainstream movie.
During the National Day holiday, the movie was released, and this song became a smash hit across the country. The moment Sheng Ciyuan sang the first line, over half the crowd on the sports field started singing along.
“In the smoke of war, you planted the first spark.”
“On the wasteland, iron tracks pierced the harsh winter.”
“...”
“The mountains know, the rivers know, every inch of this soil remembers your faces.”
“Grinding youth into gravel, letting the future glow hot in our palms.”
“...”
